Im trying to get a shaved head effect on some marines and I was wondering what thes best technique is.
The stuff online doesn't help. It says to glaze with codex grey, but I have no idea what glazing is?
Very watery paint (try about 3-1 water-paint to start), very little on the brush so it's spread by the brush and doesn't run everywhere. Put the thinned paint on the brush, then touch the brush to a piece of tissue to get rid of the excess. When painting, pull the brush towards where you want the most colour to be, and it'll build up nicely. Don't expect coverage with one stroke - it'll take a few.
I use a watered down Devlan Mud (of course) to get my stubble effect, but you could use Badab Black, Gryphonne Sepia, or Ogryn Flesh Wash to achieve other hair color stubble. Like winterdyne said, 2-3 coats does the job for me.
What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
