Hey All, I've decided i'm going to expand my GW horizons and begin playing fantasy as well. I'm thinking Daemons of Chaos is my army of chaos, so I'm reading through the rule book now. So to be really honest, i don't have a great idea of the differences between 40k and fantasy, so if someone could give me a few tips and pointers both on the rules and what to do with daemons, that would be awesome!
Thanks heaps guys!

You really cant go wrong with deamons.

All the greater deamons are pretty awesome. All the troop choices are great. Magic is great too. Shooting can be a little light. Most people say princes are not worth the points.

As far as fantasy goes, you'll want big units. 8th edition is the age of infantry en mass.

Also the bsb ( battle standard bearer) is pretty key to 8th edition as well. You'll want one in evey game!

Hope this helps!

Theming a daemon army around a single god can be challenging, but fun... a friend here has an all-khorne army and it rocks!

As for 40k/fantasy- some people try to use them for both, and it's possible, just depends on the crowd you game with really. If you want to try using them for both, go with circular bases and get a movement try that they fit into well for fantasy. You can't really do the reverse (put them on square bases and easily use them for 40k).

^^^ This, I also had the idea of basing the square base with dirt then painting it like a bright blue or some other bright supernatural color, then using an airbrush and place the circular base over the middle of the square base and spray it with the color you want the dirt like brown that way it looks like the deamons are coming up from a blue circular portal and you have a 40k base for determining things like getting hit with templates.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd
