I have been out of hte hobby for quite some time and thus all my old citadel paints have dried up. I wanted to get back in but I am kinda tired of the GW pots and such. So I was wondering what paints you recomend for getting back in? The Reaper Series? Vallejo? GW paints still?

Also I noted that Vallejo is a non US company, I was wondering if anybody had a probelms with them shipping top the west coast in Oregon.

Thanks!

Thewarstore.com carries Vallejo paints, just received my starter set from them yesterday

I normally use a mix of the 3 to be honest. It just depends on the application and the color I am going for. The Reaper and Vallejo paints are nice because of the dropper bottles, but the GW foundation paints are fantastic. As for getting Vallejo in the US my FLGS caries them but I am sure you would have no issues ordering them online if you had to.

As my GW paints dry up I've been switching more and more to P3 and I must say that they're a great value. Also the pigments on red through yellow are stronger than most of the GW equivalents.

I use Vallejo paints and Citadel Washes, for the most part, and I adore both.

I'm going to let you in on a big secret that shouldn't be secret at all. I started hobby gaming in 1994 (this is not the secret). Somewhere around that time, there was a company that made citadel's paints called Cote d'Arms. For some reason, they stopped making them--but they kept producing paints.

I have old paint pots from the Cote d'Arms lines that are still PERFECT--where GW pots that I bought three years ago are dried up, cracked and ruined. They are far and away the best paints I've ever had, and I cherish those old pots.

It's more convinient for me to buy vallejo and citadel, but I'm through with citadel paints (still use washes though) and from now on I will only buy cote d' arms because the quality of their product is so exceptional I can't validate buying anything else. their pots outlasted the amount of time i've had pubic hair on my body.

My paint money goes to Vallejo. There are plenty of resellers in the US, from dedicated hobby sites (e.g. The WarStore) to Ebay stores where you can find it. The more you order at once, the less you lose on shipping costs, although most sellers are pretty reasonable.
