I think either the nids or necrons are going to do us in.

Chaos, its heavily implied that Chaos will be the final enemy that the Imperium has to face. Whether it destroys the Imperium we won't ever know for sure but I think if its going to be any of them it'll be good old RAGE!, Just as Planned, The Grandfather and Mr. Sex Pest, led by Failaddon himself, if he ever finds his arms.

The Imperium itself, it is the only thing strong enough to do it. It'll then fracture and be picked off by the others.

Leave it alone for long enough and the IoM will crumble all on its own.

Same thing that is destorying the American Empire, we have gone from Apathy to Dependence.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Has to be chaos, no way GW would write the end of the imperium using xenos

It's entirely possible. Necrons could easily rise and wipe out everything with their arcane technology. Orks can amass and launch the Biggest Waaagh! in history to crush them. Tyranids can have an extended buffet and then nom up whats left. So it's not out of the question.

In truth it probably would be written down as Chaos when the Emperor finally passes on. Emperor goes, Imperium gets in a civil war, Chaos moves in and just amplifies the results.

No one.

It has contractual immortality.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.

Pedents. No it's called Bill and his mates. As said before we digress.

If had to be anyone it would be the Inquisition. Mabye the emperor grows too weak and CD use him as a portal and the barrage the place. Then the imperium would lose faith and civil war would break out.

I can agree with that, and if I had to pick I would say nids since the astronomican is drawing them towards terra, I just think GW favors the imperium/chaos over any of the xenos races so if they ever did something as big as destroying or changing the imperium it would be via chaos.

No one will.
Orks will find crack and disco and give up fighting.
Chaos will keep continuing to fail at the hands of Abadleader the Despicably Bad
Dark Eldar will just stay in the Webway, shelter themselves after an eternity of killin' and eventually just kinda run out of KY jelly and collectively die from some sexual disfunction.
Tyranids will start becoming more biodegradable and stop eating metal, decreasing the chance of them ever defeating the Imperium by about 100%.
Daemons will probably get bored of fighting as well and end up materializing as some amusing childrens' toys and bring loads of wealth to Chaos, which will give them more power to fail.
I'm telling you guys, if they ever try to end 40k, it'll be like this.

It is also said that Khorne's daemons will hunt down and destroy any warrior who betrays his honour by killing a helpless innocent or murdering in cold blood..."

Most likely Chaos, or, hey maybe the Chaos Gods may break free from the eye of tear and go kick some ass. Or it could be a war between The normal Space Marines under the banner of the false emporer facing the Imperial Gaurd under the banner of the False Emporer but with slightly different ideas

Mat ward could lead the fourteenth black crusade. The sheer bad fluffness of it would cripple the imperial church. The astronomican would die from the psychic backlash, and the emperor would feel a moment of minor discomfort. The tau would then ally with the orks (another element of bad fluffness provided by ward) and overwhelm terra with hordes of Chaos worshipping, high tech greenskins. Oh, and did i mention, ward would add Tyranids as diplomatic near saviours of the Imperium!

Many and varied forces in progress according to waxing & waning whims.

I would say no one, but every Empire fails sometime, so I guess it will be replaced by another human realm, perhaps a human realm lead by the StarChild.

Neither the forces of Chaos, Tyranids or Necrons proved to be even slightly capable of destroying the Imperium.

Orks could not even do it due to their nature.
