Hi there, I'm a regular of the C'Tan Support Group (a dedicated Necron forum) but as there's not many Necron players left these days, I thought I'd share these pictures here as well to see what people think. Comments/criticism/suggestions welcome.

As far as putting the Tomb Stalkers together goes, I actually really enjoyed the model. Not too many mould lines to take care of, and the pieces fit together relatively well. Legs are a pain at times, but really, if you put the effort into the Tomb Stalker I think it pays off.

My first Tomb Stalker, meant to look like he's bursting out of the ground (i.e. Deep Striking):

My second Tomb Stalker, meant to look like he's lunging forward (i.e. Assaulting):

My third Tomb Stalker, meant to look like he's lurking in wait (i.e. Hitting and Running):

Great poses on all 3 stalkers, I especially like the third one. I picture a SM squad cornering the lone Necron thinking they're in charge of the situation, when the stalker suddenly appears coming over the rock.

I'd suggest uploading your pictures to the Dakka gallery, and then copy the 'Forum' code so you can paste them directly into your post. Hosting is free on Dakka, and you'll never have to worry about you're pictures not showing up because of bandwidth limits.

Ooh, these poses look sick! For some reason, however, it feels like the first one is lacking something. When I imagine this thing coming from the ground, it would be in a spectacular explosion of sand and rock and gravel. Is there a way to model that, I wonder?
Anyway, keep up the good work!

Thanks for the suggestion to use the Dakka gallery, I've updated the original post.

As for the suggestion to model an 'explosion' of earth from the burrowing Tomb Stalker - if anyone has any ideas as to how to do this and make it look good, I'd like to hear them. I can't think of any good way to model bits of flying dirt without making them just look like little strings hanging off of the Tomb Stalker.

Edit: Maybe just have the Tomb Stalker's legs partially covered in dirt to make it look like he's just emerged?

For the explosion, maybe you could get some wires or bendy sheets of plasticard, cover them in sand and glue them to the base in a kinda funnel shape? Hope you get what I mean.

Anyway, great poses. They all really help give character to the three. I like the lurking one the most. Can imagine it ambushing just about anyone.

Excellent poses. They look awesome. Sure hope that 3rd one never drops on the floor. If it lands upside down with that weight, that model is screwed!

Thanks for the comments - and yeah, the stones are real stones, got 'em from my back yard. Let's just say I'm really careful with my Tomb Stalkers...they're a pretty delicate model. I think they'd be screwed if I dropped them, regardless of any extra weight, haha.

I've decided against modeling an explosion, too many bits that can fall off of these guys as it is, and I just don't think I could make it pay off. I have changed their bases slighly (mostly built up more sand in certain spots) but it's really not that noticeable. I've primed them and painted their terrain, so I'll try to get some more pictures up soon.

Really nice models, I like the Assault one myself. If you plan to do any more or for any other budding Tomb Stalker builders, someone else came up with the idea of drilling out the centre of the spine and inserting a long wire which can bend a bit, such as brass or fuse wire, which helps keep the segments together while the glue dries and keep them posable while you're trying out looks.

Really nice looking. I like the third one the best.

Great work! Thats cool that the model allows for different ways to construct the tomb stalker.

Third one is my favorite, do you field these often? how do they do?

One thing I have to say is that it's kind of a waste to use only half a Tomb Stalker for the first one. Maybe make a fourth one in the process of starting a Deep Strike? Unless you've used it for something else already.

Gonna use the leftover bits for my game table, probably. As for the guy who asked how they do - Tomb Stalkers are awesome. Fun rules, fun model. I hope they make it into the next Necron codex.

I hope to put up some pictures tomorrow of a half-painted Tomb Stalker.

Ooo. Would love to see the game table. And some paint on these guys too.

One question. How easy is it to prime these guys? Heard it can be tricky.

I wouldn't say that they're terrible to prime, but you definitely need to spray them from a lot of different angles to cover enough of the model. Anyways, here's the 3, in varying stages of completion:
