Hey everyone, i have finally gotten around to starting a P&M blog (well, i suppose i needed to start painting and modelling first

), after being inspired by so many other blogs, which are all full of amazing work. I have finally decided its time to really get down and paint my collection properly.
I have painted a few bits and pieces before, but nothing really finished (I have one Razorback that has been painted in 3 different schemes and stripped, its currently just primed black now....) The painting i did a year or two ago was mostly dry-brushing, with my Chaos i just dry-brushed red/s on top of primed black vehicles and infantry. I got a bit involved painting Tau (which wasn't even mine) although that was mostly dry brushing, and about a year ago i mostly painted a Trygon because i liked the model, although i never finished it and a friend is using it as he actually plays Nids.
I have a few things that i can and will be getting on with in the near future: (in planned order)
Chaos: Mainly Nurgle stuff (or Nurgle themed) but in a diffrent style
Blood Angels/Space Marines: Got some Assault Marines, planning on building up a
DoA army, but will maybe just try them out with some of my Marines in the near future
Diorama: planning a small Diorama, with Guardsmen.
LOTR: Including Harad army (Mamuk as well), Balrog, Fellowship. Want to try and make a moria style board either for display or playing on. But no idea if i will actually manage this...
Here is my first model: (Sorry in advance if Pics aren't great, i only currently have access to a Kodak '
HD' camcorder type camera, a small one, and its photos (and filming) aren't great)
Starting off something like this.
Then in progress.
And ending up like:
Its not 100% complete, but will probably do for next weekend (as i have so much more to paint) and i will try to touch it up a bit after that.
Painting wise, (Primed white over the red, don't have anything to strip the paint with
atm) i started with Graveyard earth, the first coat ended up being almost a wash, second coat was a bit thicker, then third coat was straight from the pot. Was then all dry-brushed Rotting Flesh, before a Ogryn flesh wash all over. The green stuffed bits where then washed with Thraka green, and lightly dry-brushed with bleached bone, as was the sand bits (It hasn't come out very well in the photo). I will add a couple of Nurgle icons on it soon (I have the
GW ones) I quite like it, during the process i thought it would end up terrible, but not too upset with the outcome now. Its a bit different as well, its probably been done, but i haven't seen brown Nurlge before. For more tanks i do have plans, like adding tentacles, icons, Nurglings, maybe horns, skulls etc to make the model a bit more interesting, this was mainly the test piece.
Some more photos of the finished piece.
There are more
WIP pics in my Gallery if you want to have a look. Any advice on how to improve the overall look, of the rhino (and future tanks), also wether or not you think the Plague Marines should be painted differently (I did think paint the tanks in the dark colour, and infantry in a light colour, but not sure if that will necessarily work well). And i hope to bring you more updates very soon.
