I always see these on FW and was wondering, what's their deal?

They're just dreads with two of the same gun.

Mortis with two pairs of autocannons is in most of the marine codexes now.

The other double weapons options are available in IA2.

You're right - it is, I thought it'd been dropped in the IA2 update.

Perfectly usable in 40K, nothing restricts it to Apoc.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

No they don't - the standard codexes only have options for autocannons on both sides.

Mortis dreads can have TLHB, TLAC, TLLC, MLs on both sides. (look at those FW weapons again - they're the other side to normal)

HS for normal dreadnoughts, Elite for venerables appears to be the standard pattern. Mortis are elite choices in the actual book - not checked the update however.

Mortis dreads are Elite and only available for Dark Angels.
