I'm mostly interested in background stuff and painting. I love the Imperial Fists color scheme (I know they aren't white) but I'm not too keen on their heavy armor tactics. I'd like to have your opinions on these three chapters and their advantages. the one which is most common are the White Scars but I'm not in love with the red indented lines at the bottom of their armor. I like the Blue of the White Counsuls and the tone differences in the White Templars. I'm very much into medieval and Templars aspects but I'm not a close combat type of guy. So that's the gist of my dilemma.

Which one would you choose and why? For me the Why is the most important part.

Some pointers on my type of tactics. I'm more of a sniper/support type of guy. Having a chapter that is more centered on helping another chapter, being there for support while another chapter moves on, very much defense as I don't move forward but you can't make me back down or retreat with the ability of making small surgical strikes of key targets. Does that sound too much like the Tau? Is there such a chapter or do I have to make my own?

Again, the "Why" is the important part of your answer.

Thanks a lot.

No. They are a recognized chapter with almost no history. As a complete OFF topic. It`s funny that K actually sounds for black in printing (CMYK- Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. So KKK would be Black, Black, Black. Ironic isn`t it?

Mentor Legion
Praetors of Orphus

Both might fit your style a little bit better.

I think I`ll research the Mentor Legion some more. Thanks for the tip. I also like the Imperial Guards so that would allow me to join the two army types and have a mix. As I am very interested in scratch building and modifying stuff, I like the "testing new technologies" aspect of their chapter. It allows me to come with things that may or may not work and label them experimental technologies. I like the secondary color of their scheme "green" and the tactical squad and elite cadre approach. And with the Mentor Legion, I can always incorporate one of their unit with other units as they sometimes fight alongside other chapters.

So right now, I'm researching the Mentor Legion but still looking at the Counsuls and Templars.

I knew I'd have good answers but didn't expect them so soon.

Psychopaths... I wouldn't say so. The rest is probably true though. BTW, aren`t all Space Marines psychopaths to some degree. For example Dreadnoughts.... to have yourself incased in an armor because you were mortally wounded does require EXTREME dedication or a few loose screws.
