I am close to finishing my Tau Army now and I've made this 1500 point list to use in my local GW's campaign and Tournaments for most of the armies I will be facing (DE, GK, Guard & Marines). I didn't know what to spend the remaining 117 points on, I wanted to free another 4 points up so I could have another Kroot squad as I can't go over. Please leave tips.
HQ:
Shas'o Firestorm 132
Plasma Rifle, Missile Pod, Shield, H/W Multi Tracker
Troops:
12 Fire Warriors 160
Shas'ui, Marker Drone
12 Fire Warriors 210
Shas'ui, Devilfish
15 Kroot 121
10 Carnivores, Shaper, 5 Hunds
Elites:
3 Crisis 195
TL Plasma Rifles, Targetting Arrays
Heavy Support:
Hammerhead 165
Railgun, Burst Cannons, Multi, Disrupt
Hammerhead 165
Railgun, Burst Cannons, Multi, Disrupt
3 Broadsides 235
Multi Trackers, Leader W/ H/W Target Lock
1383/1500

I would never give Broadsides Multi-Trackers unless they had plasma rifles (which you shouldn't do that much anyways. Broadsides should always be firing at vehicles, and so it is a wasted hard-point to let them fire SMS at the vehicle as well.... if SMS is even in range. Targeting arrays or A.S.S. is much more valuable for the broadsides.
Hammerheads could use a target locks to split railgun and burst cannon fire.
I really don't like TL Plasma Rifle/TA crisis suits. What do you plan on killing with them? Point for point, Bladestorms would probably do more damage.
I'd suggest using PR/BC/MT suits instead.
For your commander, I'd suggest giving him a shield drone instead of shield generator. Shield drones give you an extra wound, as well as giving you the invlunerable save.
Marker drones are terrible. They cost way too much for what they do. Considering that you already have a devilfish in this list, I'd get rid of the marker drone and get some pathfinders.

.
I will swap the Multi's for A.S.S

I used to use Bladestorms but I've played with the TL plasma suit config for a while now and it is impressive (Enabling me to take out MEQ's and bikes with ease or even engage larger tyranid monsters at long range.

The shield never does enough for my commander, it's a 5 point drop and it's half a chance to lose it's inv rather than always having an inv against weapons such as plasma guns and power weapons, From my earlier lists I have dropped the shields on the Elite suits but kept the one on the commander.

I agree that I would need to get rid of the marker drone and could add another fish to this list but I'm not sure I'd add Pathfinders to this list, while they are good with their markerlights, the benefits are not very high for the price you pay

The way I see it, people will usually shoot your commander with St8+ weaponry. If your Shield Drone fails the save, you lose the shield drone and your invulnerable
If your shield generator fails the save, you lose your commander.

All the S8+ weaponry that I am against in 1500 points usually is targeted at my Broadsides or Hammerheads as they are a bigger threat to the enemy. In games I have played my crisis are usually victim to Plasma guns and the like, weapons that do cut the save but don't deal ID. By giving my commander a shield I can make sure that he always gets a save.
Let's say, A Tac squad fires at my Crisis squad, not even with a AP 3 or below weapon, and the tacs deal 5 wounds, I have to allocate one wound onto each, and then the shield drone fails the save, that means I have lost an inv save to something that didn't even deny an armour save. I always find the Generator works better with the commander. If there is a melta shot on the squad, i would have to sacrifice a guy, but normally by that time the squad has done what it has supposed to do. I get where you're coming from, that if i do fail a save, then he's dead, but my Crisis hardly ever get any gets any ID fire.

As The Bringer said, shield drone > shield generator. More reliable, and you can take two of them.
You can downgrade your HQ to Shas'el and give him a targetting array, that will save you points.
You should also consider giving him bodyguards instead of your elite crisis team. That would make it a single, costly unit, but all of them would be under the shield drone umbrella, and all of them would benefit from a single markerlight source.
About markerlights: one isn't enough, and ML drones cost way too much. One squad of pathfinders would really be nice. You can always reassign their devilfish to your troops to reduce their cost a bit.
Avoid twin-linked weapons with targeting arrays, it's kinda redundant to take both and not worth the added cost. Two different weapons with multi-trackers will produce more volume of fire at a better point per shot ratio.
Edit: If your enemy target your broadsides first, give them shield drones.

I had made Shield Guard in an earlier list on this forum but I was being told to drop them for a squad of 3 instead!
Yes, ML drones are costly, and I will probobly use the pathfinder fish for the other FW squad when I drop the drones.
I think giving the Broadsides A.S.S and shield drones makes them too costly, and the shields will draw more fire to them, yes they will deal really well but if i take shields I would have to drop the A.S.S.
