Reading over the Blood Angels Codex and wondering.
Can I have a Captain in Terminator Armour with a Storm Shield and Lightning Claw?
Or do I HAVE to take a Thunder Hammer with a Storm Shield?

I would rather have him with the Claw and Shield since they look freaking awesome together.

The options let you take any combination. You can even take all 3- TH, LC and SS.

That's freaking awesome.

mind you, you will never get any (2ccw) bonus attacks with that combination.

Even if you bought a pair of lightning Claws(2X), and a Storm Shield the SS rules override the 2 CCW bonus.


it is all Moot though, as you cannot get 3 weapons(Nos, you should have known better ); The Captain has a Chainsword and a bolt pistol Or a Boltgun, and could exchange any of those 3 for a different weapon, but you still only have 2 weapons to exchange.

I am now mildly confused.
So I CAN take the LC + SS, but there are more useful combination's of equipment to take? If that is what you're saying?

No, LC+Sis fine; re-roll to wound is pretty nice; you just canot take LC, TH, And SS.

You can take LC+Power weapon but again are wasting points since you cannot gain a bonus attack from that combo either(no bonus attack from 2 different specials, page 42 of BRB).

LC, TH, and PF all require pairs of the same to gain a bonus attack.

Storm shield automatically deny a bonus attack even with paired weapons(specified in the SS rules), on those models that can take one inclusive to 2 weapons.

TH or PF on ICs is rarely a good choice, as you are striking last in CC(Always I1 when using those weapons) so you run the risk of losing the IC before he strikes; Eternal warrior or Storm Shield(both if you can get it) mitigate this problem.

The Storm Shield is fairly expensive on Captains, Chapter Masters, and Chaplains as you are only increasing your Invul save chances by 16.666%(all those mentioned have a 4++ to start); I would rather take a pair of LCs; saves 5 points and adds an extra attack. Or a hand Flamer/infernus Pistol/bolt pistol + power weapon

I'll have a bit of think about how I will kit out my Captain.
But I think I will eventually go for looks for this one.

Considering I'll only be playing friends with the army, I'm not too worried about how I'm kitting him out.
He'll be rolling with a squad of termies anyway, so he'll be tearing Nids (friends army) up either way
