Yes.

Why did you quote yourself? Also, there's no "e" in "inch" - also, it's cool to do this. Personally I like the look of them on the back for standard Land Raiders, but the hurricane bolters or flamestorm cannons from Crusader/Redeemer on the front.

Front looks better too. Its always hilarious when the guns are in the back and troops are getting out right in front of them. Lascannon to the back of the head? well yes I don't mind if I do.

Sometimes, you just gotta take something cause the model is freakin cool...

There are plenty of pictures of the current landraider model with guns on the front hatches. In particular, the cover of the original (artwork not photo) box for the current model. (see below)

So, put them where you want. Front mounts means a little range bonus but it can also make it hard to disembark large squads, especially if the front ramp is blocked.

I don't know, I did edit to add something to what I wrote. I got told that they get an bonus range if you put it at the front.

I think the back looks better personally. But I prefer an advantage than just looks. Even though I bought £300 of models before I even knew what warhammer was. The grey knights (terminators) just look superb.

I have put £500 into warhammer in the last week because I think some models looks good haha. So everything I have (below) is bought in that last week or so.

You measure weapon range from the physical position of the gun barrel. Placing the lascannons in the forward hatches give you an inch or two more range when firing forwards.

I agree with the whole looks cooler in back, but is worse in every other way. It's not just the extra inch of shooting, it's the idea that the lascannon blocks the door so that no one would ever be able to get out when they are put in the back.
