As the subject says, I will be new to Chicago in just about a months time. I'm not sure how much time I will be having for war gaming but I play 40k and dabble in fantasy. Just curious what's out there and looking to hopefully squeeze some games in and find a new gaming crowd.

Hey I'll be moving to Chicago next month as well. Where are the non-GW games(warmachine, infinity, malifaux) played at? Games Plus?

Games Plus is THE game store of the Chicagoland area. I live about 2 hours from it and visit it regularly. Plenty of game space and events are held often.

Games plus is nice, but it's an hour outside the city. If you're in Chicago like I am, it's much closer to head to Chicagoland Games or Black Sun Games. Both have an accomadating staff, tables and terrain and are located inside Chicago city llimits.

I also have a gaming club, (see my sig) but we play mostly non-GW indie games. Feel free to PM me for more info about the club or Chicago gaming in general.

Will you be in the city or burbs?

In the burbs, I'll echo everyone here and say the Bunker and Games Plus are your best bets.

If in the city (like me & Eilif ), my FLGS is Black Sun Games. Check out their forums:

If you don't have to worry about kids and schools it's nice. Just stay away from the austin side.

Congrats on what I assume is a new job!

Oak Park is nice. Great downtown area, very classic homes, and a really nice mix of race and culture. If you want a suburban, smaller town feel, Brookfield, or Riverside or even parts of Berwyn have got alot of nice old brick homes. and they're about the same distance from Rush.

If you want to live in the city there's tons of nice neighborhoods, but know that you're going to pay a bit more.

My wife works at Rush, and we live in the city. Between the two of us, we've lived in about 8 different neighborhoods. Shoot me a PM if I can offer any info about Chicago, nieghborhoods, etc.

I thought I'd revive this a little as I am finally actually in chicago. I live in the loop however and it seems to be about an hour to black sun or the bunker by a plethora of train and taxi's. Does anyone else live in or around the UIC/Downtown area and feel like casual weekend games of 40k?
