How good are fenrisian wolves? Especially with saga of the wolfkin in the army. Even better if joined by a wolflord on thunder wolf.
What's your thoughts ?

They're of very limited use IMHO; mainly I'd use them as counter-assault and additional wounds.
They can be great to shield your TWC and charge any softer, infantry units whilst the TWC take on the tougher stuff.
Similarly, they can be excellent for attaching a TW lord to, to provide him with some ablative wounds and once again, take on the softer parts of the enemy army whilst the lord handles just about everything else.
If you know you're going to be taking a lot of Fen. Wolves, then Saga of the Wolfkin is a huge (and cheap) boost, so well worth taking. However, I'd say Fen Wolves are only really worth taking in Wolf-heavy or potentially foot-slogging lists.
Also be sure to remember their limitations in what they can handle; they can chew through hordes and GeQ's with ease, but struggle with anything much tougher. Also remember the leadership boost TWC gives them.

When you do the maths vs meq, saga of the wolfkin means they are going to beat any equivilent cost unit in close combat and can even handle more.15 fenrisian for the cost of 7 marines, thats 45 attacks on the charge with an assault range equivilent to jump infantry.

Like most units they have a time and a place for use IMHO, against blob guardsmen and the green tide they a very cost effective wayt to even the odds. but Saga of the Wolfkin is a must IMHO

True, but they also only have a 5+, no ATSKNF, no ranged attacks, can't score and compete with TWC and Land Speeders.

I always take a couple of wargear wolves with my stabby lord on TW. Getting cover for just him is hard, but when you have two much smaller models in the unit, it is a lot easier.

Its actually a 6+ save.
but do the maths, 120 points of fenrisian vs 120 points of marines.
Wolves go first with 45 attacks so 3or4 dead marines. Last marines go with no more than6 or 8 attacks so 2 dead wolves. Wolves win by 1 or 2. Marines stay and fight so continues on apponants turn, they lose 2 wolves lose 1, final round of combat and the marines are dead and the wolves are down to 11 or 12 still.

If you're so set on the Wolves then there's no point me trying to debate this with you.
There's always a problem with looking at things in a bubble and you fail to mention how the Space Marines have guns. Guns which will tear apart the fenrisian wolves. The wolves are highly unlikely to make it into combat with 15 men (men?!) still going; the SM player simply wouldn't let it and considering their durability they wouldn't exactly need a lot of fire putting into them.
They're not a bad unit IMHO, but they're not a particularly good one either, particularly by themselves.

Just Dave is right on many points, but an all Wolves list Can be Fun, mabye not Competive, but Fun.
Canis the Choice for an all Wolf List, you can take him his two Wolfs and 15 other Body Guards, when Teamed up with a Trio of Wolf Lords on Thunderwolves with thier 2 Wolves and some TWC you can win the Game in only a few Turns or Loose the Game in the Same amout of Time.

I agree there suseptable to guns and there definately not super great, but most marines i play against only carry bolt pistols and the odd melta so losing 3 wolves to pistol fire is nothing as they will be charging in next turn still with 36 attacks which is 3 dead marines.
I also agree that a twc list is fun but not a top competitive list.
I just wondered what others had experienced with fenrisians. Mine ride out with a wolflord on thunder wolf with runic armour, pw and saga of the wolfkin.

I have not used then "In Mass" yet, but as Body Guards [A lack of Models], but when I have most of the time they just become normal Moves.
Now the Time I put Ragnar, 2 Wolves, a Wolf Priest and 10 Grey Hunters in a LRC, that worked out well
Normaly I also field them with my Lone Wolves [ PA, CCW, SS and MotW] and that aslo works well.
