It's a pretty straight forward FK list and in no need of tweaking.

Maybe I can offer advice on tourney things. What kind of missions does the TO dole out?

The one thing I like about tau are their ability to scale down and still be really strong. At 1000 points, I think we're a bit hamstrung, but still viable. Space Wolves and other MEQs might give us trouble, just because they're SOOO points efficient. Ditto for IG.

With that in mind, I think you have a lot of fat in the list that needs to be trimmed. At this point level, I don't think you have the points to be running shield drones or pathfinders. You need guns, lots and lots of guns. Shield drones don't have guns, and while pathfinders function as a force multiplier, they're not efficient enough for this point level.

And fire warriors suck hard. Kroot are cheaper, better in melee and cap objectives better, especially if they're in trees.

With that in mind, here's what I might recommend:

999/1000

--HQ--

1 Shas'el 73
-TL Missile Pod
-Target Lock

--Elites--

2 Crisis Suits 106
-TL Missile Pod
-Targeting Array

2 Crisis Suits 106
-TL Missile Pod
-Targeting Array

2 Crisis Suits 106
-TL Missile Pod
-Targeting Array

--Troops--

6 Fire Warriors 145
-Carbines
1 Devilfish
-Disruption Pod

10 Kroot Carnivores 70

10 Kroot Carnivores 70

--Heavy Support--

3 Broadside Battlesuits 250
-Advanced Stabilization System x3
-Team Leader
--Target Lock

Strengths: 10 suits, 14 S7 TL BS4 shots, 3 S10 BS3 TL shots, three troop choices. You'll be pealing open transports left and right. Weaknesses: lack of AP3. So when you dismount those space marines, it'll be tough sledding, but you have weight of fire on your side. Stick the HQ with one of the elite suits, or with the bsides to give them a LD9 bubble for when they get shot at.

Hope that helps,

Knute

Thanks for the advice while i do have more devilfish and one more suit i was going for a gunline with pathfinders using markerlights so the firewarriors will hit leaving the broadsides for vehicles and individual crisis suits to attack light vehicles or elite squads without needing the markerlight backup. The shield generators almost always pay out on broadsides and i have even done well in assaults with them due to there 2+ save.

Knute, that is one brutal list. The only thing I might change would be to split the Broadsides into separate teams, to give you better angles of fire (therefore ASS really aren't needed) and so they are not as vulnerable to shooting.

Thazar, just in case you don't know how this sort of list works. One Kroot squad bubble wraps the Broadsides (either grouped or separate), giving them 4+ cover as well as protecting them from assault. The second squad of Kroot spreads out and gives cover to as many of the Crisis Suit teams that can fit behind them. There's not a hell of a lot at 1000 points that can survive that many Missile Pod shots. As the enemy advances, the Kroot run forward, rapid fire, take assaults and die for the greater good.

As it stands, your current list isn't great. Too many upgrades, not enough units.

You brighten my life like a polystyrene hat, but it melts in the sun like a life without love, and I've waited for you so I'll keep holding on without you.

Add that last suit in. I C&C lists with what I see, and try not to recommend models that players might not have. Trim the FWs down to either two 6s or one full dozen, that grabs the PFs' ride.
