Hey, my friend runs A Khone/Slannesh Chaos army(yes i know....desecration...) and has lost all but one game. And hes played almost 2 dozen games. Much to his rage(i lulz at this ) i will start up a world eaters force(DC only) and he finds his army lacking. I offered to let him use Drop pods in game against myself and talked with some other gamers and they seemed okay with it, but would you guys allow this or not at all. And on a side not, could he add something to it just to chaosfy it?

For games amoungst friends, do whatever you want. It's all good. Enjoy!

I suggest you don't believe anything posted by thedarkavenger unless confirmed by other regular posters here at Dakka. He has shown he is incapable of basic English comprehension.

I'd allow someone to do it just for fun.

But around here we do a lot of tournaments and have a competitive crowd. Getting used to playing with other armies' rules would not help him get better at the game.

Perhaps he should look up some tactics. Does he use sonic blasters? Because those are a horrible, horrible waste of points. Does he use something other than a daemon prince? Also a horrible waste of points.

No, but he refuses to take a lash prince and has only recently consdiered it, other than that he rolls a squads with MoS, Nurgle Prince, Khorne lord, and Khorne terminators

one of the IA books has rules for chaos drop pods (IA 6 or 7 I think, or 9 and 10, possibly all 4......) tell him to check those out.

You dont need a lash prince to have a good army, just about any version of a daemon prince is good, as long as it has wings. Without wings you are wasting your points! He needs to look at his tactics, look at his list build, and look at his equipment!

Never ever ever take a troops choice without a champion and power fist, EVER! Never ever EVER take a daemon prince without wings! You must use transports for a csm army to be effective! You must take something in the heavy support area that takes the firepower instead of the transports! You need to take plague marines to take double meltas! Berserkers and land raiders are meant to be best friends!

This is just a small example to work off of, how much of this is he doing? The Land Raider and berserker thing isnt necessary, and neither are the plague marines(although i must say damn near necessary), but in order to be competitive with csm this is what it is, rhino up and rush em forward!

Victory is not the most important outcome. Enjoyment and excitement is the best outcome, victory is sweeter when it was fun.

The rules for Dreadclaws can be found in at least three books that I can think of:

IA: Apocalypse
IA5 - Siege of Vraks pt1
IA6 - Siege of Vraks pt2

And all of them have slightly different rules. Add to this the Renegades and Heretics FAQ which states the following:

Q20 – The Dreadclaw rules are confusing. It both deploys using the rules
for a Drop Pod but enters play like an aircraft – what does this actually
mean?
Oops… Ignore the paragraph stating that it enters play like an aircraft.
The rule should read as follows:

Deploying the Dreadclaw
The Dreadclaw and any unit assigned to be transported by it will always begin the game
in Reserve. When the Dreadclaw becomes available from Reserve, it is deployed using the
Drop Pod rules, and in subsequent turns may use the Flyer Hover Mode rules as
presented in the Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse rules and the Apocalypse rules index
sections of various Imperial Armour books.

Difficult Ground
A Dreadclaw is immobilised if it lands in difficult ground.

After a fair bit of email correspondence with FW about it, it seems they intended it to work basically like a SM Drop Pod without Inertial Guidance and with the ability to move like a flyer. Don't know exactly whether they intended it to be usable in non-Apocalypse games, though...

I can post the emails if anyone is interested.
