Firstly, May I say. I'm a space marine, with a Latin-themed army. I've attempted to set up my story in the black sea area, in istanbul. [but it will be Augusta Atonia here]
to start, a quibble from the log of Officer Lucius, of the third company
Third Company log, Ofc. Lucius, Thracia campaign – M41 Black void region wrote:
We took the planet Byzantinum today. Ahead of a main contingent of our fleet, Captain Ceserae sent a half-company down with tanks and all. The casualties were enough to deplete us from continuing the push further north into Scythian lands.
Ofc. Julian me of the good captains previous hastily planned attacks…
Not all have gone so well. But Ceserae, Ceserae has vision. His vision will felt long after it has turned its burning gaze away from this sight. Desolate. Decrepit. Deteriorated. That’s all these lands have become… this Byzantinum.
We rename it today. The heathens here shall never be remembered. Ceserae named it after our Grand Master, Augustus Antony and dubbed Augusta Antonia – but for the time, we will see that name hold. This land is our home. Our salvation. Our beacon of hope in a land filled with the barbarisms of semislavic people.
We shall sell our lives for it.
For the emperor we will.
The venerable Captain Varrus, third company After the slaughter at Teutoburga void plane wrote:
They came upon us with incredible speed. Their warcries were daunting to say the least. They knew their mission, and we knew our fate. Men who’d sworn their allegiance to any number of chaotic things… fell on us… All was lost… save for the few. I believe that this short combat was the deciding moment in our timeline. It is when we lost all semblance of power… honour. Our fate was sealed. The Third company will never be the same. The honour of teutoburg demands it.
Never again shall we suffer such a loss.
Always vigil.
Never, never again…
The hymn of penitence wrote:
Lest they be erased.
We shall remain
Those who bore the brunt of the charge
They shall remain
Keep them at an arms length
We will remain
Engage them when we must
And bear the charge as we need to.
They shall remain
