The End Times, a 40k singles tournament @ Warhammer World on August 20th & 21st for up to 128 players.

On the 20th and 21st of August this year there will be a 40k gaming tournament held in Warhammer World, Nottingham, that hopes to offer the best of both fluff and competitiveness.

The event will consist of 8 games of increasing points values. The first 4 games will be at 1000pts, and the final game on the Saturday will be a 1500pt battle. On the Sunday there will be another two 1500pt games, climaxing in a 2000pt game for the final. Players must stick to the same codex throughout the tournament, but can change the composition of their army as much or as little as they wish at each points increase.

The competition will use a combination of tournament points and a playoff system to decide overall rankings. On the first day everyone will be using tournament points for all five games. At the start of the second day the top 8 ranked players from day 1 will be invited into a quarter final playoff system to determine their positioning and the overall winner – there will be no ‘knock-out’ rounds in the playoffs, losers will simply play losers and winners with play winners to determine ranks 1 through 8.

Those who did not make it into the playoffs on day 2 will play on using tournament points to decide who the top xenos and top Imperial players in the room are. After game 7 on the second day the top 8 Imperial players from each of the Imperial codices (highest ranked Space Wolf, Blood Angel, Dark Angel player etc) will go on to play a special grudge match against the top 8 xenos players from each of the xenos codices. The overall winners of those grudge matches will give a tournament point bonus to every player in the room on their side, not a large one, but enough to separate them from an opposing player who has the same game record as they do. For example, the imperial players beat the xenos players 5 wins to 3 losses in game 8, so all the imperial players in the room would get a small tournament point bonus added to their total.

Tournament points will be awarded on a win, lose or draw basis only. There will be no ‘soft scoring’ points available for sportsmanship etc, but we will happily eject anyone from the competition if they feel this gives them license to behave poorly.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, as well as top imperial and top xenos players in the room. A prize will also be given for top painted army.

Tickets will cost £42 and will include a lunch on both days. Tickets are available here, and a full rules pack can be found here.

If you have any questions you can leave them below or e-mail them to events@trespassgames.co.uk.

This event sounds awesome, as long as armies are required to be painted. I wish it were in New England as opposed to old England.

Armies are required to be painted to the typical minimum of 3 colours and based.

Weve received a few e-mails asking if the tournament results will be uploaded to RHQ. So just to confirm for everyone - yes, the results will indeed be uploaded to RHQ.

sounds interesting. might be interested.

One question though, with it being in Warhammer World, do my thunderwolves have to use GW parts, or are third party models acceptable?

Non-GW models are acceptable, but for obvious reasons just don't be too blatant about their use. Certainly none of the Trepass Games event staff will have any issues with it.

Wee update for folks that might need to travel to the event: if you phone up the Holiday Inn, Nottingham on 0115 993 5000 and quote 'TRESPASS GAMES' then you can get room and free breakfast for £69. You might even be able to get it cheaper than that if you book early.

We've had a few questions about exactly how the rankings will work, to clarify how the rankings will work in terms of what will be uploaded to RHQ etc:-

Ranks 1-8 will be determined by the results of the playoffs.

Everyone who did not get in to the playoffs on day 2 will determine ranks 9+, and this will be dependent on their tournament point score over the 8 games, using victory points to split the difference.

If this is at all unclear then feel free to let us know and we can clarify it further. We know it's a bit of an unusual way of doing things but we're specifically going for something a little different. Don't be unsettled by it! It'll work out well we promise! ;-)

I had a chance to talk to Dave Symcox at 40KUK a couple of weeks ago and the podcast is out today. Have a listen and win a prize if you can actually keep up with my accent! 40KUK is a great tournament podcast in general, and I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Hi there,

I'll be in the Nottingham area that weekend and would like to know if you've still got tickets available. I asked this on another forum as well but don't know if you monitor these threads.

Thanks,

-Sam

Yeah we've got plenty. We've capacity for 128 players at this event in order to ensure there would be plenty of places available, right up until game day.

At the event! Check this out:-

Just picked up the prizes we have up for grabs for the Champion of the Imperium and the Scourge of the Imperium. They look awesome!

There's nothing quite like bopping someone with the Fists of Ultramar, they make a distinctly satisfying thud

Why must I go on holiday? Why?

This sounds awesome, I'll have to watch out for it next year.

I play:
Imperial Fists - 9000 pts
Tyranids - 1500 pts

GENERATION 9: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

3 people have dropped out and have generously refused a refund, so the upside of that is that there are 3 free tickets available for the event. If you want to come along and think you can sort accommodation and transport for yourself (or live nearby and don't need to) then e-mail us at events@trespassgames.co.uk with the subject line of, "Mine! Mine! I bagsies!" First come first served folks

I think a few people are going that way about it now. Should be interesting to see how many folks turn up on the day.

One more free ticket up for grabs as one of the ones claimed previously has been given up. Again, just e-mail events@trespassgames.co.uk with "Mine! Mine! I bagsies!" in the title to claim it.

Free ticket was snapped up by Mr Frank Marsh, but another has appeared in it's place. Yiaw's Deathwing exit the tournament via a smashed up car leaving someone else to fill their name in where the question mark currently stands. Usual procedure.
