Greetings-

MY wife and I will most likly be moving to Tucson, Az. by the end og July. And I am wondering if there is any good gaming stores in the area. Here in Central Valeey (California) we have local 40k tournys 2-3 times a month at various FLGS. Trying to get a feel for the local gaming scene before we move.

Thanks Guys! (and Gals)

I go out to that area for occasional training. When I go, I end up gaming at Hat's Games. They don't have 40K tourneys every month, but they have a good number of 40K players and a gaming area. As far as I can remember, that is it. There was a shop called Nemesis Games, but IIRC, it went out of business.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

If you are willing to travel, battlefoam is based in Phoenix and they recently opened a store front with in store gaming.

I've been in Arizona a long time, but only in Tucson for 3 years or so.

Hat's Gaming is the only store in the Tucson area I am aware of. I haven't been to many times, and only played one game there but do go to pick stuff up. It's a smaller place, and last I knew the owner was having some trouble with his supplies so their on hand stock can be pretty limited. He's a good guy though, and if you need something in particular he'll try and get it for you.

As for the gaming area it's self, going off memory there is 3 card tables set up in the front room, I usually see folks painting or playing a RPG of some type here. The back room has 4 or 5 normal sized gaming tables, and one really nice on in the center. The terrain selection is decent enough and it seems there was a decent amount of people to play, on the weekends I've been there was anywhere from 10-20 folks inside, with 90% of the tables full.

I've yet to see anything but 40k played in the store, but as I said I don't go in very often.

I know the store runs tourneys every once in a while, not sure if their anything official or just for fun though.

I think there is also some additional card tables in a corner for RPG's and CCG's.

If you go up towards phoenix, the best place I have found by far is Imperial Outpost, the owner is fracking amazing and busts his backside to make the store nice. I know they just expanded but last time I was there he had close to a dozen gaming tables and a crap load of terrain. His selection is awesome, with an entire wall for GW products, the other for board games, RPG's and other minis.

Though, it's about a 2, 2.5hr drive from Tucson...

They run all sorts of game nights for various Mini/RPG/CCG games, as AFAIK he does host official and unofficial tourneys.

I guess I've been spoiled with the 40k gaming in Fresno, Ca.

Oh, well.

Ya I got spoiled by Imperial Outpost, but Hats is trying, so worth checking out. At least your not moving to Cheyenne Wyoming. The only store there was, well sorta creppy... of course the town only had 50k people in it...

Well, here in Fresno, we have a lot of friendly tournys, and stuff like that. Not GW sactioned, good none the less.

After getting into heavy competative game-play, I'm not so sure regular friendly play will be enough...
