So, what did everyone thnk of the final episode of season 1 of My Little Pony?
My personal opinion is that, while it was an overall good episode (Angry Fluttershy was HILARIOUS), the ending definitely felt a bit rushed...but it was a decent end to the season.
And now I suppose it’s finally time for me to deliver some unfortunate news. I’ve been uncertain for a little while now about how, when and, to be honest, whether to announce the news at all. But here it is: I am no longer working on the show. Various circumstances with the production made it increasingly impossible for me to keep up the level of personal creative involvement and control that I had at the start of the series. I don’t think I can accurately express how difficult and painful the decision was and still is. When Season 2 begins, you will see my credit changed from Executive Producer to Consulting Producer. My involvement in Season 2 ultimately does not reach far beyond story conception and scripts. A little more involved in the beginning, and a little less towards the end.
However, you should be pleased to know that the gaps I have left are being filled by the same amazing artists, writers and directors who brought you Season 1. I’m certain the show will be as entertaining as ever, though perhaps in a slightly different way.
With that said, I hope you will still be interested in sticking around my DA page. I started this page as a forum to share my personal work and I hope that those of you who come here lured by ponies will be tempted to hang out for whatever else I have to share in the future---- as soon as I figure out what that will be!!
With sincerest gratitude,
Lauren

I liked it so far.
Fluttershy did get a little bit too open in that ep,not to mention crazy.(shouting "LOVE ME!!!")
I think if Lauren doesn't keep working on it,it might drop a little.
In a few of the later eps they reached out more to the older fans with more Derpy Hooves, and a few drug references.
I hope they DON'T continue this way, part of the fun of the show is the childlike innocence and teaching kids important lessons.
EH, I kind of like how they're acknowledging their older fanbase. I mean, a big part of the reason Pixar movies are so succesful is that they are able to reach out to both kids and adults with their humor and/or drama...the same can be said about classic shows like Animaniacs.
So yeah, I hope they acknowledge their older fanbase, maybe toss a few jokes/visual references at us, as long as they keep the heart of the show what it is.
And yeah, as far as the last episode goes, I loved crazy Fluttershy, Rarity amused me greatly, but the other four's stories were a bit 'meh'. To be honest, 30 minutes wasn't enough time to do the story justice....they needed more time.

Im sorry but I just dont get why you care about this?
I watched your posted vid and it didnt seem to have hidden adult humor. I dont see any adult reason to watch this. Im sure it would be great if I was a 12 year old girl. but as a middle aged male gamer I just dont see the appeal. Care to fill me in?

the band is playing somewhere and somewhere hearts are light, and somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout but there is no joy in Mudville — mighty Casey has struck out.

No one really knows why we love it so much. We just do.

Because it's an awesome show, with great characters and it's highly enjoyable and entertaining. Think of it as the robot unicorn affect. You start watching, and it turns out to be a pretty damn good show, and over time the show's over the top cuteness and girlyness become part of the reason it's enjoyed in and of itself.
Besides, you have to watch more than the season finale to get it. A lot of the humor in the season finale comes from characters acting more and more crazy as time goes on, a type of humor that doesn't work if you don't know how the characters are normally.
Edit:
Not to mention alot of the 'adult humor' is more reaching out to the fanbase by using characters the fanbase really cares about. It's a lot more fun to watch the show being a part of the fanbase than it is to just watch random episodes.
Btw, did anyone see Derpy in the last episode?

Stream of Conciousness wrote:Love. Hatred. Revenge and forgiveness. Kindness and jealousy. Temptation and redemption. Selflessness and vanity. An introvert learning the ways of the world, one awkward step at a time. A responsible, honest worker whose pride is both her greatest strength and weakness. A fiercely loyal friend whose ambition and skill is matched only by her arrogance and insecurities. A seemingly meek caregiver hiding an incredible and often terrifying resolve. A creative and generous soul held back by impossible standards and an obsession for perfection. A lively embodiment of revelry whose cheerful façade is at odds with her need for acceptance.
A group of friends who, despite being flawed individually, make a stronger whole.
That’s what makes Friendship is Magic so compelling. It'd be easy to assume the cast as mindless stereotypes; no one expects much from kids’ programming anymore. Especially from something like My Little Pony. Rather than forcing its audience to settle for generic characters, the show provides remarkably diverse and well-rounded protagonists. None of them are perfect; not only are the virtues of their personalities explored, but the inherent flaws and implications as well. It’s best demonstrated in episodes like Dragonshy, which highlights the best (and sometimes worst) of what each pony offers. Not to mention Party of One, which manages to be both hilarious and slightly terrifying simultaneously. It’s hard to find that balance – some episodes fall short of it – but the quality of the writing has set (and frequently meets) a new standard for cartoons.
It was clever to use Twilight Sparkle as the central character; her social ineptitude and willingness to learn makes her the ideal hero for a show about morality. More importantly, the episodes rarely sacrifice the storytelling for their given messages. Take Suited For Success for example; it takes something as bland and cliché as a fashion show and subverts expectations with a fine blend of music and comedy. Or Bridle Gossip, which, despite its obvious lesson, has some of the funniest and entertaining moments in the season. With strong writing, clever jokes, several homages and references, slick animation, and some truly brilliant and catchy music, Friendship is Magic makes for a fun and rewarding experience.
Give it a chance.
