This is all the info I know about.

The fell legend of Tamurkhan has been whispered for many centuries amongst the nefarious tribes of the Chaos Wastes. Some tales speak of him as a scion of the Great Kurgan, one of four sons each cast to the four winds to conquer and enslave. Others claim that he was once no more than vermin – a corpse-canker grown fat and clever on the spoils of the battlefield, swelled and transformed by the light of the Ruinous Powers. Perhaps the most fell creature under his command is the mighty Toad Dragon Bubebolos, a huge, reeking, primeval horror and greatest of all its bloated kind. Blessedly few in number, the Toad Dragons are lumbering horrors from a forgotten age whose flesh festers with unwholesome rot and whose black blood is clotted with maggots and carrion worms.

So basically a wingless dragon that has physical characteristics that resemble a toad.

It's basically Forgeworld exploring some of the more bizarre stuff in the Warhammer world, which is what they do in 40k, whether its things that are too big for normal games or just off the wall creations.

Hopefully we see more stuff like this from Warhammer Forge for other armies. The Warhammer world is pretty vast, so there's lots they can create. I'm personally waiting to se what they come up with for Lizardmen.

At least it's a better model than the original.

A Nurgle mutation of a toad-like swamp creature that led to a wingless ...

Are toad dragons daemons or associated with Nurgle in any way?

They do seem to be associated with Nurgle; I don't have a direct correlation, but on the FW site the "lieutenant" (and his smaller mount) of the dude on the toad dragon is clearly linked to nurgle...

Hmmm, more a dragon toad than a toad dragon?

The mount of the Champion of the Nurgle army is described by:
the Toad Dragons are lumbering horrors from a forgotten age whose flesh festers with unwholesome rot and whose black blood is clotted with maggots and carrion worms.

So yes, obviously.

I find that assumption offensive. I know plenty people festering with unwholesome rot and clotted with maggots and carrion worms who wouldn't return Nurgle's phone call, much less be associated with him.

I thought Chaos dragons were the only dragons associated with daemons.

What I was referring to was this:

"Kazyk the Befouled on Rot Beast
Lieutenant to the mighty Tamurkhan the Maggot Lord himself, the fell champion Kazyk, known as the Befouled, is little more than a rotting sack of putrescence held together by the will to destroy. Such are the rotting blessings gifted to him that he must be all but hacked apart before his malefic spirit will cease to be."

It is interesting that there are no nurgle symbols that I can see on Tamurkhan, but on Kazyk there is. Since he's clearly nurgle in nature, and the model of Tamurkhan has the same characteristics, I'm not sure why they chose to leave the symbol off.

But everything else points to nurgle... even if the toad dragon is more of a hold-over from an earlier age (as it says in its description) that fits like a glove, rather than a "new spawn/creation" of nurgle.

Wow i when i was little i owned the old mountain dragon and thought it looked cool.

It looks so bad now :(

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

I still fail to see where 'toad' comes into this at all...?

It's basically a cross between a komodo dragon and a Mawloc

Keep in mind that Tamurkhan is taking the form of other things (such as that poor [blessed?] Ogre Tyrant) and while he is befouling those forms, the gear generally won't be associated with Nurgle.
Thats really the only thing I can think of, but it seems to make sense.

On a side note, I can't wait for the day (hopefully within a few weeks?) that Tamurkhan takes the form of a Troll and leads Troll Country to battle... >:]

I think it's jawline, long whip-like tongue and pudgy body make it look more toad-like in comparison to other dragons.

I think the toad-dragon comes from the same origins as Gaulrauch, in that a great dragon ate a GUO, and after much heartburn and a bottle of Beano, was transformed into the first toad dragon. And i believe GW will support me on this.*

*YMMV

I can't tell if you're being serious or not. Although now that I think about it does look a bit like a komodo dragon.

It actually does sound pretty plausible though, and would fit in with GW fluff quite neatly if it is a Dragon who ate a Great Unclean One.

That begs the question:
How was a dragon able to keep his mouth open near a GUO without collapsing?
