I have had an offer to buy my SM Army from someone in the USA.
I have looked around the usual suspects websites but it seems if i want it tracked in anyway the shipping cost goes through the roof.
Has anyone sent an army or models to the USA from UK that would be able to put me on a better track?
Just for note it seems that every tracked i look at for 3kg approx (tbh i dont think it will be 3kg ) is around the £60 + mark.

If it's under 2KG then go to the post office and send it by airmail. Upgrade to airsure for tracking and insurance. Cost for just under 2KG will be approx £26.

Over 2KG, forget the post office - they'll send it by parcel force and it'll be way too expensive. Instead, go to parcel2go.com and send it by DHL. That'll cost around £30 depending on the parcel size. Remember that you'll be charged based on primarily on parcel volume so make the package as small as possible.

It will cost a lot. Looking at the Royal Mail site they say that the maximum parcel size is 2kg.

It's £4.26 for 300g and an additional £1.11 for each 100g thereafter. And it's about £5 on top for 'international signed for'

So I'm thinking you'll have to split the packages. A 1500g parcel will be £18 before you stick on the £5 for insurance.

Surface mail is about £11 for a 1500g packet but it takes up to 6 weeks to get to the US.

Thanks m8
It seems thats what the issue is, they are all trying to charge me by Volumetric Weight; which from what i have noticed it seems to base the price on what the weight could be rather than what it is.

Surface mail to the US isn't trackable.

This is correct. Volumetric weight is basically the amount of space that it's going to take up on the plane. Doesn't matter if it's really light - it's still taking up space.

Under 2KG go airmail. Over, go with DHL at parcel2go but you need to make it as small as possible. 30x30x15cm comes in at just under £30.
