I've heard good things about Full Thrust for ages and I've an itch to take out my SW starship minis before I move again. Anyone tried them using FT rules?

Is it worth a try/

Porting any universe to Full Thrust rules is always awesome. Love Full Thrust. Its a great system overall, and if you're feeling adventurous, check out the link in my sig for a permutation of the rules.

Great thing about FT is you can use any minis you want. If you search the internet a bit you will find custom weapons people have made for Star Trek, Star Wars, etc. Helps give the game a feel more oriented to the particular universe.

Whats my game?

Song of Blades & Heroes

You know, I have a Star Wars starship minis starter set buried in my closet somewhere...I too would be interested in dusting off some of the minis to use with new rules as well. I've also heard that Starmada is really easy to adapt to various universes as well.

I've been using my Star Wars stuff using the War Rocket rules. Games are quick(so they can be big) but a little abstract so if you're a SW purist this might not be what you're looking for.

I remember that Silent Death did a Star Wars variant in a magazine way back which seemed kinda neat. Probably not as extensible as you'd get with Full Thrust though.

The rules were okay but the TIE Bomber made the game unplayable. So many torpedoes and no way to stop them all (A-wing could outrun them but the X-wing and Y-wing were screwed with no point defense and no way to really survive more than one, MAYBE two hits.) Most scenarios were just a war of attrition. Throw away as many TIE fighters as possible before wiping the entire rebel force away with a single turn of TIE bomber torpedo fire. While probably very realistic in its approach it wasn't much fun after the first or second game.

I have the Starmada book, but havent played it yet. It looks good, more detailed than FT. Im guessing that probably makes it play a bit slower.

We used to play FT with whatever fleets we had at the time.

Most of the guys had actual GZG FT fleets.
A couple had old "Spacefleet" mini fleets.

Some had old Micromachines Action fleet Star Trek and Star Wars fleets (like me - Several star destroyers, a super star destroyer, Nebulon-B frigates, etc.

There was even a colonial battlestar fleet (battlestars ARE carriers, after all).

That was the good thing about the game. It's about the class of ship, not the actual model, in a lot of cases.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

FT brings back memories Lost the rules and my stargrunt 2 stuff in a move which is something I miss as it was always fun and quick to play. We did the use micro machine star trek models for a few games for fun so yeah it's really adaptable
