When I got back into 40k, I started with a Death Guard army that is somewhat similar to yours. It has since become half plagues, half berserkers with a lash prince and oblits, but I always wanted to keep a "pure" death guard list around.

I like the core of your list, just about anyone is gonna be hard pressed to eliminate that many plague marines. However, each squads loadout seems to be not quite as efficient as they could be.

Theres not much need for an icon on each squad, when at most you could only have the obliterators and prince deep striking. Due to my frequent bad luck with DS mishaps on oblits, I would rather walk the oblits on the board and save 25 points from the icons.

Also, plasma pistols are rather expensive, and while powerful, I have found that a combi-weapon saves you some points, while also retaining a level of deadliness.

With 5th being all about mech, I'd rather see each squad in a rhino, rather than in the two land raiders, which as many people have said, are a little schizophrenic in what they want to be.

As such, consider this list:

It retains your Prince and Oblits, while also keeping your plague squads intact, albeit "improved" in some ways.

Note that this list is at 1750 points, so you can add another prince, another 3 oblits, or anything else you would like!

Very good points AreTwo! Actually, I have a tourney coming up in a couple of weeks and am in the "use what ya got" mindset right now but I really do like your list better!

Oh I hear ya, its tough to field a good list with just the few parts you have; I'm still lacking a few power fists, and I'm terrible at making combi-weapon conversions.

To be frank, AreTwo's list is pretty good. I am glad he kept the PFs.

I really think you need a 2nd DP, and would suggest it if you want to sac a unit (like #3), but I honestly think you want 3 more Oblits and split them into 3 squads of 2 with that last 250pts.

With the 25pts left over, you can add 2 combi-meltas to some of your Rhinos (I suggest #4 and #5) for further melta or even twin linked bolters. Get one TLB if you got the two combi-meltas, or 5 for all the Rhinos.
