Whilst building up my Grey Knight force, I wanted to make this my good army, where every model is well posed, painted and it's components well thought out. I wanted to create my own Brotherhood, and after coming up with a few ideas, I decided to create this thread after seeing a similar one for a Catachan Regiment. I don't expect this thread to get very far, but if you fancy, pick a model, give it a weapon (Force Sword, Daemonhammer.....), give him a name and suggest a name for the Brotherhood.

Note - To give it a but of flavour and 'diversity' I've included some Purifiers, Paladins and a Librarian. They are not part of a Brotherhood's core force. Furthermore, allocations will be first come first serve, as will weapons, we can't have everyone with the same, so for example, there's only one Daemonhammer per squad, and some squads will be themed.

A) Grand Master - Master Sam, wielding Nemesis Daemon Hammer (coolyo294)
B) Brother Captain - Captain Garro, wielding Nemesis Broadsword Libertas (iproxtaco)
C) Brotherhood Champion Symithius (dullblade35)
D) Librarian Korvus, Sanctuary, Hammerhand, Dark Excommunication (thefarseerofnorthryde)
E) Chaplain Kel - Terminator Armour and Incinerator. (Kommissar Kel)

1) Paladins - Brother-Apothecary Muffin (GangstaMuffin24), Brother Inritus with Psycannon (DarkVoidof40k), 3 Brothers (Nemesis Force Halberds, bar Apothecary)
5) Purifiers - Knight of the Flame Boyofdestiny, wielding Nemesis Daemon Hammer (Boyofdestiny205), 4 Brothers
10) Purifiers - Knight of the Flame Balthazar, wielding Nemesis Daemon Hammer (Lokirfellheart), 4 Brothers

15) Terminator Squad - Justicar Kelban, weilding Nemesis Force Sword Duties Burden (Valhallan42nd), 4 Brothers
20) Terminator Squad - Justicar Numitor, wielding Nemesis Force Sword (Jaon), 4 Brothers
25) Terminator Squad - Justicar Seric, wielding Nemesis Force Sword (General Seric), 4 Brothers
30) Terminator Squad - Justicar Myscio, wielding Nemesis Daemon Hammer (Lysenis), 4 Brothers

35) Strike Squad - Justicar Dvorn, wielding Nemesis Force Sword (Redshade), 4 Brothers
40) Strike Squad Incursion - Justicar Aramil, wielding Nemesis Force Halberd (M'Kanchen's Nemesis), 4 Brothers

45) Interceptor Squad - Justicar Johnson, wielding Nemesis Daemon Hammer (Fire_for_effect), 4 Brothers
50) Interceptor Squad Hell Jump - Justicar Orpheus (purlpleflood), 4 Brothers (Falchions)
55) Purgation Squad - Justicar Iras, wielding Psycannon (biohazardcake), 5 Brothers

W) Land Raider Crusader Titans Fury - 56) Pilot Vertian (Chaos Lord Gir), 57) Co-Pilot, 58) Sponson Left, 59) Sponson Right
X) Land Raider Fist of Judgement - 60) Pilot Uhtred (winnertakesall) , 61) Co-Pilot, 62) Sponson Left, 63) Sponson Right
Y) Stormraven Iron Wing - 64) Pilot Humps (Commissar Von Humps) , 65) Gunner Alexios (alexgm101)
Z) Land Raider Redeemer - 66) Pilot, 67) Co-Pilot, 68) Sponson Left, 69) Sponson Right)

67) Techmarine Rascallian, Master of The Armoury (razcalking)

F) Venerable Dreadnought - Brother-Captain Scipio, Twin linked Autocannons, Psybolt Ammo (GeckoObac)
G) Dreadnought - Brother-Captain Kohut, Plasma Cannon and Nemesis Doomfist (Clumpski)
I) Dreadnought - Brother-Captain Cornelius (steeds of war)
H) Dreadknight - Brother-Pilot Badassius (Cybronx)

Here is the list for my mates Deathwatch who will be allying with me on a few of my matches. They are unpainted and in the case of the Captain unassembled. So you can pick a name and the Chapter the marine hails from.

Inquisitor Votok (The owner of this Deathwatch army)
Power Armour, Power Sword, Plasma Pistol

Deathwatch Captain Leon Angelus of The Blood Falcons (Lysensis)
Power Sword and Storm Shield

Deathwatch Squad Malleus Eternum

Deathwatch Squad Xenos Bane Mounted in Rhino
Sergeant Gyges from the Black Templars with Power Fist, 3 Marines, Marine with Plasma Rifle

Deathwatch Dreadnought Captain Vindictus from the Black Templars (iproxtaco)

Just a note... If you want to create a brotherhood following the fluff you shouldn't include purifiers in the brotherhood, they form a kind of brotherhood on their own.
Also, squads are composed of 10 GKs, dividing in 5 men squads only in combat situations. They are spread among Terminators, Strike Squads and Purgation Squads with about the same ratio (the codex apparently doesn't distinguish between interceptors and strike squads).

Some paladins may be present but they're outside the brotherhood structure and only work as bodyguard for the grand master.

This is my current force of Grey Knights, read the Note just above the list. I'm going to full out into squads of ten, split into five when I have funds and time.

List is updated. Welcome to the Grey Knights.

Initiates have to train to fight Daemons somehow, I figured that a converted Scout Squad could be used to give the force a bit of variety and to represent some Initiates shadowing a Strike Force gaining some experience.

From what I gather from the codex the training is quite "singular", and by that I mean that each initiate is trained by himself, through certain specific trials and intensive training... Doesn't seem that they are taken into battle (either alone or in squads) before gaining the rank of knight... To be clear: I'm not trying to "censor" you in any way, I'm just giving you what I think is the best interpretation of the fluff... Where you go from that is your choice.

From what I can gather from the book, candidates have to pass a series of very harsh trials to root out the weak. Only one in every thousand pass these. The prospective 'Initiates' then go through the 666 Rituals of Detestation. If an 'initiate' passes all 666 Rituals, they receive their enhancements. I figured that whilst receiving these they are now a member of the Grey Knights in the position of a Neophyte. They go through even more arms training at the hands of the Librarians and Brotherhood Champions. I would probably put them at the final stage of their training, going into battle to fight the Daemonic in order to gain some experience as part of their training. I would convert them from scouts and any bitz left from my other units.

Anyone have any names for the Brotherhood? I'd like one before my first battle, after which I will debrief people on the outcome, promotions given, performance report...etc.

Nickname, title, whatever. I assume that each one would have a name as they were founded by the original 8 Grand Masters.

Depends, perhaps they were just 1st, 2nd, and so on... They'd probably end up acquiring some nickname or some title... Given the story of GKs I can't say I can imagine any name that would sound cool and not cheesy... Especially since it's very rare for a whole brotherhood to be deployed

Venerable Dreadnought already taken, sorry. Would you like the second Dreadnought instead or another position?

EDIT : Does this mean you would like the Dreadnought position if the Venerable is not available?

I states that each Grey Knight Bortherhood was founded after one of the original 8 founding members. 'Brotherhood' seem like it would have some sort of acquired nicknames like ordinary Space Marine companies. Seeing as how the Grey Knights are all about duty, honor and remembrance I'd have thought they would name themselves after a heroic deed or particularly inspiring hero.

Yeah that's what I meant... But considering that most of the acts of the GKs are heroic and inspiring almost by definition, I find it hard to come up with something that can justifiably be used as a nickname for a whole brotherhood without sounding cheesy
