Just a quick question about this. If im assaulting a squad (The majority is in cover) but one or two models are outside of the cover. Do I still need to roll for the assault into cover or can I make my regular 6 inch assault move into the figs which are not in cover.

If you have to make a terrain test to get into assault, you're assaulting through cover. If the nearest unengaged model is out of cover then there is no test, hence no assault through cover.

It depends
If you can base the models in cover, either because one is the closest model to your unit or becauae other models in your unit may be forced to make base contact, then you must roll for diffcult terrain.
If you do not HAVE to get to the models in cover, then you can assautl without taking a terrain test.

The key is to estimate distances so that you are just in 6" of the enemy unit and you do not have to enter terrain to attempt to base a model in the enemy unit.
You need to be very careful with assaults moves because if you move models in the wrong order you might end up in a situation where you have to take a terrain test.

You must attempt to maximize contact with enemy models. You can't just choose to contact the guys outside terrain. If a 6" move could possibly bring you into contact with the guys in terrain, you have to take the test.
This means you have to measure the subsequent models' moves after the first model is determined to be in range.
-----
Tactically, as calypso said, the way to get around this is to eyeball the positioning carefully in the movement phase, and try to make sure that your models can only reach the guys outside of terrain with a 6" assault move.

As mentioned, but somewhat more directly: whether you are considered to be assaulting through terrain depends entirely on your models. It doesn't matter where the opponent is, only whether or not you have to go through terrain.
