I go down to my local GW every week or two. I play two or three games. I usually win one or two. But I seem to suck at rolling dice.. Sure, I have my really lucky rolls

But when you fail 4 out of 10 of your terminator armour saves, and other such fails on a regular basis, you start to wonder if the dices chances are with you as much as they are everyone else. And I certainly feel that everyone rolls so much better than me, so I devised a small experiment. Of sorts.

I want to see what my, and others, average dice roll is. So join me in
-Taking a dice
-Rolling it 10, 20, or 30 times
-Adding your total up
-Dividing it by however many times you rolled
-Post your result

After 10 rolls I got..
3.0
So that's my average roll-Not great..

I am really interested to see what others are, and if I am normal in the eyes of the dice-god

From past experience I can tell my average will be near 2, because I have a horrible habit of rolling 2's when I don't want them, i.e. 90% of the game

Got 2,7 after 10 rolls. :/ 2,95 after 20 rolls. Only two of those 20 rolls were sixes. I can tell you that dice isn't going near any gaming table.

Oh sweet i wanna see what everybody else has! I'm a pretty average roller, statistically almost all of my results are on par but lets see how this goes.

so i guess i'm actually slightly above average.

So most peoples average apparently can only save a space marine by the skin of his teeth

People don't "roll" to a certain average making one person 'higher roller' than another. The only thing that could make one person appear roll to differently to another is a bias in the dice, which has been shown to occur. What is it with people and their perceptions of luck or the innate ability to roll high or low on this forum?

Seeing as the lowest you can roll is a 1 and the highest is a 6, the median point is 3.5.

well with an bleak beginning. My die decided to start working and in a row.

So after all that I got an average of 4 with my 30 rolls

Dice dont like me. They give me what I dont need.

During a necromunda game I managed to corner one of my wifes guys several times with my melta armed dude...each time I missed enough times for them to escape or others to join the fight and run my guy off.

In a Battletech game I was coming out not so good, decided I wanted it over. I charged 2 of my remaining 4 mechs (each started with 8) into a furball with 6 pretty healthy enemy mechs. Even left my rear armor exposed to a couple of them. Figured they would rip me up pretty quick. My mechs turned into Rocky farkin Balboa and took every hit and kept going. Eventually we just called the game done.

Generally there are two things my dice throwing are known to do:
1) Terminators always fail a save per handful of saves
2) Plasma cannons never miss, other blasts never get a direct hit.

My average dice roll after 30 rolls is 3.2. Only 2 ones the whole time though and they were both in the last set. Good for the Termies.

Hehe, okay i agree, there's no such thing as being a good or bad roller. Its just dice that have a physical likelihood of falling on one face over another. It is nice to see that my dice are fair though.

I generally can't roll higher then a 2 except on the luckiest of occasions.

Trial 1: 3.033
Trial 2: 3.5
Trial 3: 3.666

Average: 3.4 over 90 rolls

30 rolls per trial.
1: average 3.66
2: average 4.13
3: average 3.56

Total average out of 90 is 3.783

In game play i play as necrons. When it comes to making WBB rolls all my little necrons will come back most of the time. but if it comes to bringing back say a lord and 4 destroyers all will perish. when you need them the most the dice are never on your side as i've found out.
