Subject: Splitting Tactical Squads

Hey every one. I was daydreaming at work today and a thought occured to me if i take two tactical squads with the free flamer and ML and then combat squadded them into a squad with the ML and one with the flamer and sarge. Then ran the two CC combat squads together to fight the weak nature of the smaller squads. Is this a good tactic and has anyone tried this with any success?

It does depend on who you're facing and what they've got and what else you've got and on the terrain that's on the board, and the objectives... but yeah running two combat squads together doesn't hurt, especially in rhino's.
I'm not paying you to daydream though

I've done this a lot. I put a powerfist in with the flamer and run them in a razor back to tack objectives while the Missile Launcher squad takes your infantry clusters or light armor vehicles. I feel like I waste the flamer if I don't do this (or any special weapon at that).

I combat squad my marines this way in most games, especially those with objectives. Having the two forward squads together keeps more bodies for CC should you find yourself there to increase survivability. I do not however recommend seeking out CC for your Tac marines.....

Considering a lack of OP response, I hope he realizes I was just messing with him

Not without transport.
Its good to leave a ML or Lascannon at home, and go fowards with the melta/flamers in rhino with a PF sergeant (with combiweapon)
More of supporting units though, i dunno if just 2x5 man units would be surviveable
