In a unit of Empire Handgunners, if you upgrade one of them to a Marksman you can buy him a Brace of Pistols [Multiple Shots (2)] or a Repeater Handgun [3x Multiple Shots]. More lead heading downrange, cool, right? However, on page 73 of the BRB the last sentence of the Multiple Shots SR says:

All models in the unit must fire either single or Multiple Shots - the player cannot choose to fire single shots with some and Multiple Shots with others.

Can't find anything that exempts unit champs or characters from this. So, since the Handgunners can't fire Multiple Shots (Handguns do not have the Multiple Shots SR), the Marksman can't either?

Seeing as the rule is under "Multiple Shots", it only applies to models with the rule.

I'd agree with Warp on this one. It's there to prevent getting another shot out of a unit made entirely of multiple shot weapons.

i.e A unit of Dark Elf RXB. You're at long range so you decide to only fire one shot so you don't get the -1 for multiple shots as well as the -1 for long range. However you make your unit champion fire multiple shots as his BS is higher and would have the same to hit roll with 2 shots as the rest of his unit firing one.

That's what I think the rule is preventing.

So, you're reading it more like "All models in the unit, that have the Multiple Shots SR, must fire..." ?

Considering that that is listed under the Multiple Shots rule I would say it does seem to mean that. If not and his multiple shot champion is only allowed to fire as many shots as the rest of his non-multiple shot unit then there would be absolutely no point in paying more points for a multiple shot weapon as he'd either have to choose to fire with only his champions multiple shots or his whole units single shots.
