After looking at boxed sets I came to the conclusion that about 600 pts would be the average size of a codex legal army using the battleforce as a base. I did this as a experiment for introducing the game to others at a relatively low start up cost. Most lists will need to have an HQ unit bought seperately to fill out the army. Below is my Eldar 600 list that I am still painting and modelling up. The point level in an Eldar battleforce is relatively small so I have a second to help round it out. (The second squad of guardians are going to become corsairs.) Below is my starter list.

HQ
Farseer - Runes - Fortune and Guide
130

Troops
Guadians - 10 - Scatter laser
Dire Avengers - 10
w/ Wave Serpent - TL Scatter lasers
330

Heavy Support
War Walker Squadron - 2 - 2x Missle Launchers
130

Do to the low point level there would be few elites, heavy armor or fast attack. WW w/EML should be able to handle most armor at this level and gives me the Scouts USR and Infiltration. 4 EMLS could also help thin out troops before they are other wise engaged. Due to the lack of Warlock, I would probably put the Farseer with the Guardians to help survivability.

Don't have 2 psychic powers on a farseer without spirit stones

i generally don't like seeing the Avengers withour an exarch with bladestorm.. But in a 600pts i guess thats for the best hehe..

War Walker Squadron - 2 - 2x Missle Launchers

i hope your guiding those warwalkers with the farseer. Missile lauchers are not rly trustworthy with BS 3.
