Slave on the Slave Snares

Ann Arbor, MI

I have to say that, while out of the loop, I am no stranger to the tabletop obsession that IS 40K. I've played 3rd Edition Tyranids (The Big Black Book), Space Wolves (3rd Edition Codex), and a vast array of other small point armies. I fell out of the hobby after both the strain of nowhere to play and this strange thing everyone keeps calling "life". Either way, and the point of my post, is that I always told myself that I'd make the effort to play again if an army that got redone really stood out. Well, it's finally happened and now I want to pick up the hobby once again. That army that has appeased me so? Dark Eldar. They are... ::Tears up.:: Beautiful. I've just got done spying my little eye on the new advanced orders of the Talos Engine and it's winged friends.

Now after that wall of test my questions... (Yes, I have searched, but opinions change like moods after some of the posts I've read, so I'll re-ask them... You don't mind, really.

1.) Dark Eldar have always been a bit unforgiving to controller mistakes, unlike the good ol' Space Marines. Is this still true w/ the release of the new Codex?

2.) How's the learning curve? (Hello, 3rd Edition Sisters of Battle!)

3.) A friend of mine had the older Dark Eldar models and loved them dearly except for... How damn spiky they were and getting caught in foam they did. Any suggestions on how to store the newer models professionally, even if they are indeed spiky like that of the past? (Sabal/Sabol {sp?} comes to mind.)

4.) What are the basic of basics I should purchase first? I mean, the pure staples, apart from the Codex? (Hello Mister PDF.)

I'm sure I will have more, but please, entertain me and help out your local veteran n00b?

Cheers!

This thread by DashofPepper should answer most of your questions. I don't play Dark Eldar and am very new to the game so have no advice, but I can point you to those who do.

Yes. there's some mitigation, but it's still a very fragile army.

2.) How's the learning curve? (Hello, 3rd Edition Sisters of Battle!)
Still not super easy. Again, it's fragile and a mistake cannot be mitigated by 3+ saves. Though there is at least some more help in this book.

No clue sadly. Perhaps a plastic storage bin with some sort of metal bottom that you could magentize raiders to as you transport them?

Warriors and Raiders.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.
