Most all the folks I know who play utilize MkII.

A few key things:

As far as I know, there are no official MK1 events.

New model releases don't have MK1 rules.

Mk 1... Does it (still) exist?

No, but like anything else, you could play with MK1 rules if you
wanted to. However, you'd have to come up with your own rules
for anything released since MK2.

Mk2

edit: If you're updating old models and getting a card deck for Warmachine,
make sure it has the year 2010 written on the card deck. Old MK1 cards
were labeled as MK2 after some errata and updates.

Rare are those that think MKI was better than MKII. MKII is far and away regarded as a tighter and more refined rules set.

Retribution:27; Casters 2
Trollbloods:21; Locks: 2

The only thing I miss from MK I was unit sizes other than min and max. Adding a trooper or two was nice and I still miss that. Other than that, MK II is much better.
