hey everyone befor i begin this is a little pet project of mine ive been milling over for some time and have finally decided to make so i will soon be putting up photos of the conversions for this army once i have the parts i accidently posted this in the 40k backround section as i didnt know where to place this

edit-- were origionaly known as the beast men of khai-zhan but due to revolations that this was the planet from the city fight campaign the planet has hence been changed to KHALI-ZAR

any way with out further ado

THE BEASTMEN OF KHALI-ZAR

Khali-zar was a highly prosporus agriplanet located in the Segmentum Obscurus in a dence area of stars that was for a long time thought lost due to a massive warpstorm that shrouded the planet blocking all contact with Khali-zar for close to 1000 years and beleaved to be lost forever to the foul daemons of the warp.

Yet on the eve of the 1000 year the warpstorm dissipated and the Adeptus Astra Telepathica was flooded with thousands of telepathic sos's from the people of Khali-zar sent during the first thousand years of their isolation and lost in the warp.

First contact and return to the Imperium

After 1000 in isolated in the warp storm the imperiums first act was to send in a team from the Ordo Malleus and the Ordo Hereticus to see if the planet was free of taint.
When they arrived they were instantly set apon and surrounded by a group of what at first seemed to be mindless beasts given human form however rather then attack they droped down to their knees in reverence knowing full well who stood befor them, What had at first seemed mindless beasts was actually a group of abhumans half man half goat.
The leader of the group adressed the Inquisitors In a broken Low Gothic mixed with strange growls and brays "Glory to the Emperor for he sends His judges to test his lost flock. I am Har'groth and i welcome you to our forsaken world long have we awaited this day that we my be tested and brought back into the emperors divine embrace."
The whole population of Khali-zar was tested for taint all went willingly and endured any trial to prove they were clean and pure.
The process took close to 100 years during which it was descovered that Khali-zar had not only standard sized beast men but large minotaur like ogrin from the northen mountains and smaller dog like rattlings in the mines citys, finally Khali-zar was declared free of taint.
The people of Khali-zar were declared Abhuman Beastman (Homo sapiens variatus) though their strange devolution remains unexplained.


Rise of the Beast Legion

Soon after their aceptance back into the imperium Khali-Zar recived a warning from an Adeptus Mechanicum expedition crew inspecting a lost forge world in the sector a large group of eldar had appeared as they tryed to reactivate the main forge to get into the planets Vault's their forces could hold them off for only a short time and they urgently needed help.
Khali-zar's defence force was immediately mobilized and though only small a mear 250 strong went to the aid of the expedition team, apon arriving the beastmen immediately took the fight to the eldar they encircled the eldar force with blistering speed and routed the pious eldar and killed the farseer leading them.
With the loss of their leader the eldar vanished into the webway as if they had never been their the warriors of Khai-zhan had taken heavy casualties only 27 of the 250 were still alive and most were heavly wounded but they had secured the forgeworld and the expediton team for the imperium.
Vid-logs of the battle taken by the expedition team showed that the men of Khali-zar had great skill speed and strength they fought like men possesed howling the emperors name and takeing out eldar in droves while moveing at great speed to prevent the foul xenos from running or trying to get behind them.
Soon it was decreed that a legion of Imperial Guard would be raised from the planet of Khali-zar and so was founded the 121st beast legion

Modern day Khali-zar

So the people of Khali-zar are ruled from off world by a dictorship of the few humans still unchanged by the ordeal it the warp.
The beast legion of Khali-zar has grown in size growing from a mear 27 men to a fighting force numbering over 1000000 all native to Khali-zar.
Commisars are common sights on Khali-Zar almost every singel squad joined by the men in black coats though through some quirk of fate there are a few of the beast of Khali-zar who have been selected and trained by commissar's to wear the black coat and inspire absolut loyalty amounge their men (however unknown to the beastman this coat contains an explosive should he fail in his duty).
though they have earned glory in the emperors name many times over they are strongly distrusted by the high ranking indeviduals of the Imperial Guard who constantly push for them to be tested again and again.

Just a minor point but isn't Khai zan an established planet in 40k fluff? If i remember right it is the planet that Vogen from the old Codex cityfight was in..

you could be right there when i designed them i was reading the 5th ed imperial guard codex and other then being a planet on a star map nothing was stated so it is possiable


edit-- You are correct due to this revolation the planet shall hence forth be known as Khali-zar

cool. very interesting.hope to see more soon. one small thing though is that it seemed at times like one huge sentence when it should of had some periods.
