Okay gents, I'm building a new army and CSM has struck my fancy. Specifically 2 units jump out at me. 1.) Abaddon 2.) Defilers.

With that in mind I'm going to build towards a 2000 pt army. First thoughts are going MC/Walker crazy:

Summoned HQ: Greater Daemon
HQ: Abaddon
HQ: Daemon Prince w/ Wings, MoN, Warptime
Troop: 5xCSM w/ Champ, Combi-Melta, Meltagun, Rhino DT
Troop: 5xCSM w/ Champ, Combi-Melta, Meltagun, Rhino DT

Heavy: Defiler w/ TL Auto cannon

Its WAY troop light but has 5x Walkers, 2x MC, 1x AV14, 2x AV11, the strongest Character in the game with 4 of his Terminator Friends and a handful full of meltas. How would you improve this while keeping with the concept of the army?

Is there some reason you must have walkers + MC in an abaddon army? Just for the black legion effect of having limitless amounts of all sorts of weirdness? Just seems like you've put a huge amount of points into a tiny amount of models (21 for 2000pts, most of my armies have that in troops alone). Id just look at that and then look at what other armies can bring to the table for those points(especially in terms of MC + vehicle killing weapons).

You've equipped your dreads for CC smashing and burning so at least you won't be disappointed when the shooting is interrupted, but I just feel that you could spend those points better and have something reliable with the same damaging effects.

The 3x defiler are alright. At least they have a powerful cannon and listen to your orders.

No combi-melta in your term group at all? Instead 3 chainfists?

In the embrace of the great Nurgle, I am no longer afraid, for with His pestilential favour I have become that which I once most feared: Death.

I agree with Halsfield that you need to focus your list down.

Do you want a terminator + abadon landraider assault? Or do you want a monster mash? Trying to do both has probably ruined any possiblity of winnign 2/3s of the games you play because you don't have any troops.

Which is interesting, because chaos have some awesome troop choices. Plague Marines with t5 and FnP. Khorne Berzerkers with ws5 and furious charge... Some really good units for holding and taking objectives.

Xom finds this thread hilarious!

The previous posters are completely correct.
I don't think Abaddon works at all in a Walker spam list, you want 2 DAemon Princes, and at 2000 points probably a Greater Daemon as well.
2000 points isn't something i play, but at 1500-1750 there is normally enough long range AT to take out a Land Raider first turn (although glancing won't do them any good when you have Daemonic Possession, so its a bit harder to slow it down) which means in 'most' games when your not going first, Abaddon and Terminators will be walking, which isn't a good thing.

Not wanting to write a list for you, but this should roughly fit into 2000 points
2x Daemon Princes (what ever load out you like, Lash could be good, brining things closer to you)
3 CCW Dreads
3 CCW Defilers
1 Greater Daemon
Then either Zerkers or Plagues (with Champs, for you Greater Daemon) Zerkers fit in well with rest of army, Plagues would add toughness though, its really up to you.
thats just a more standerd Walker list, if you want to use Abaddon (he is great) You probably need to find a way to fit him in a bit better. (and of course, without knowing how much you play of course, which could have a baring) you can always swap lists, if you have two staple 2000 point lists, 1 Abaddon one and one Walker one...

I think this list could work, but the Abby/LR combo is inherently pricy and a bit inefficient, and generally wants more "army" behind it.

I lean toward agreeing with the above posters. Abby is great, but he's a lot of points. He does better supported by an army with more fire support and Troops. Monster Mash is a good list too, but works better with Princes and a GD, again, saving some points for other units.

Also agree that it's kind of crazy to take termies without combi-meltas (or sometimes combi-plasma, if you have a lot of other antitank in the army).
