Subject: 30 Year Veteren Losing His Touch?

Bush? No, Eldar Ranger
|
Heyy everyone, a few issues came up yesterday at my FLGS and was wondering if I had been given the right information:
So my rhinno has been wrecked, my purifiers bail out. At this point the referee said I had to take armour saves on all my guys and then the survivors were pinned. This struck me as odd as I was under the assumption that all I had to do was take a pinning test and if I failed I was pinned? (without needing to take armour saves?) However - wanting to avoid a confrontation- I went with it.
Seccondly, he said that I could move my other purifiers in the movement phase and then forgo shooting to move another 6". Again, I was under the assumption that I had to run and as such, roll a D6. (What he was suggesting was just to move 6")
The things wern't too game changing, I won but these things were niggling me.
So DakkaDakka, Is he right? Or am I needing to speak up on these things?
Thanks,
MA.

If your rhino wrecked then all you had to make was a pinning check. If it exploded you would be hit by S4 hits, take armor saves from the wounds caused, then take a pinning check.
You do roll a D6 for running in the shooting phase.

pg 67 of my little BRB
Wrecked- The passengers must immediately disembark and then take a pinning test. Any models that can't disembark are destroyed. After this vehicle becomes a wreck.
Pg 16 of my little BRB
long passage but essentially its a D6 in the shooting phase if you want to run, and the unit is not effected by difficult terrain.

Your referee didn't know the game very well. You only take armor saves if your Rhino is exploded. A S4 AP - hit for every model, then a pinning test.

Or you remember that Purifiers are Fearless and so auto pass any pinning check (but may still go to ground voluntarily)
It sounds like the Ref should re-read the rule book

Che - he most certainly was not correct. A wrecked result does NOT give any hits at all, and you are not automatically pinned.
That sounds a bit like someone remembering the 4th ed tables, where you could be pinned even if you're normally immune to pinning.

As a historical note, in 4th ed units bailing out of a destroyed vehicle were Entangled, which was like Pinning except it also applied to Fearless units.

Sounds like a Redshirt to me. were you playing at a GW store?
Bad enough playing someone who doesn't know the rules, but a 3rd party observer telling you misinformation is really lame.

MAnn - it depended on if the vehicle moved, whether you got entangled or not.
You also had to get out if you got any penetrating hit at all, which is one reason why vehicles were such a trap in 4th ed...
