I'm new to High Elves, and this might be a rather easy question for more experienced players, but what do you guys think are better, High Elf Warriors or Sea Guard?

I like seaguard more, they just seem more usefull to me.

Most hardcore players will swear by Spearmen, because they balk at the points cost of Seaguard.

But I prefer Seaguard; I like the fluff and I like the flexibility.

Another mission, the powers have called me away. Another chance to carry the colours again. My motivation, an oath I've sworn to defend. To win the honour of coming back home again.

I'm finding that I appreciate the shooting of the LSG more and more, though that may be 'cause I tend to play my Core more defensively these days.

If you tend to play more aggressively, I think the Spearelves would be more effective and points-efficient as you won't be losing out of shooting by moving them forward.

If your plan is to hang back and have the enemy come to you, then Sea Guard are wonderful, as you get your archers and spearmen all rolled into one unit. I wouldn't be looking at replacing spearmen, I'd be looking at replacing both spearmen and archers.

But if you want to take the attack to the enemy, then you'll have all your good assault units steaming forward, with this spearman unit trailing behind a bit plinking off arrows. It breaks up your line of attack and you won't be getting as many rounds to fire. In this case you're really better off taking distinct units of spearmen and archers.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.
