Hi there.

I'm wondering if they are any 40k players who would be intrested in teaching a noob (me ) how to actually play it.

Also, are ther any Deatwatch groups looking for noob players?

Yeah, I've been to The Game Closet. The owner told me that the local 40k'ers seem to be real insular.

I've posted on their forums looking for a game, but alas...

which i don't understand of all the gaming hobby's that i played 40k has the smallest number of players so unless someone just a real dick why you would shun a play like they do. How far from dallas are you? area 51 has a larger and friendly crowd

There are a few different groups of 40kers in Waco and interest in gaming at the shop seems to rotate in and out amongst the groups. I hear folks show up during the week on Thursdays, but haven't seen more than a couple of folks those nights.
Sundays are usually when the most folks who play can be found in-store as you saw this last weekend.

We are in Bryan/College Station and are always looking for people. Currently, we don't have the support of a (good) store so we are playing as a club at the university.

A quick search on these boards will get you our info.

I've been down there. Seen Lytle's and the used bookstore that sells models. Apart from the 1 table at Lytle's, neither has any room to game. Are those the only 2 places y'all have to pick up stuff?

Those are the only places with actual stores that you could buy things at. There is a Hobbytown, but I can't remember if they sell models. I know they sell paint. We do a lot of playing at people's houses and during the year we have a room at the University to play in.

Yeah Dallas is too far away... 3 hours, or 2 hours to Austin.

That I am.
We've had a pretty active last few weeks at the Game Closet on Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons. At least active for us, being 5-8 folks each time.

There is a good store in Killeen, which is about 45 mins from Waco. We have a good 40k crowd here. Here is the web site

They don't show up on there for a few reasons. Mainly, the 40k crowd has had somewhat cyclical attendance in the past at the Game Closet. We get into a routine of making it down there and stick to it for a good few weeks, then something ends up happening, be it an event or work or something, and attendance falls off for a bit. Then a few weeks later, it picks back up. We're currently trucking along fairly strong as far as event attendance goes and are down there usually on Thursday nights from around 6-8 and Sunday afternoons from 1-6.
Q's not the fastest on updating the site as well, as can be seen from the May events on the front page still.
The shop shuts down at 8 on Thursday nights, but depending on who is closing up and/or what they have going on, we squeak past it long enough to finish whatever game we're in usually.
Sunday hours at the shop are 1-6. The circle I game in has been known to show up other days and times, you just have to find out when they/we have spare time and can get a game in.
We've been playing 1000 point lists recently as that allows us to get in a couple of games usually.

@cptjoeyg
Is Battlefield the one on post, or have something to do with Slaughterhouse?I'm not familiar with it, but haven't been down to Killeen for gaming in a good long while.
