Found a great rule in the BRB. Especially with ard boyz right around the corner.

When your opponent roles to wound you, you can take those dice that were used to wound you and use them to make your saves. I'm sure a lot of people might know about this, but it's great if you think they are using cooked dice.

Why anyone would let you use their dice i don't know, and why you'd want to use them i don't know either. Where is this in the BRB?
Oh a if i found someone using 'cooked' dice, i'd just refuse to play and pack my models away. Seriously its just a game!

Its a Tournament rule that you have to let your opponent use your dice i believe.
Otherwise, how would you know they are cooked dice?

Unless your opponent is throwing an exorbitant amount of 6's... how/why would suspect cooked dice?

Unfortunately I am one of those "dreamers" that still believes that people aren't walking into a situation ready to do bad things.

If you want to charge me with cheating, you better damn sure you have got some hard evidence.

even the slightest evidence of cheating can get you thrown out.

if your dice are rolling loads of 6s with certaint dice, but you swap to different dice for your LD tests then I will call you out.

I had someone quasi accuse me of having cooked dice at the prelims of 'ard boyz. But I don't. I use game science dice and my opponent is welcome to use them if he/she wants while we play.

I like them because they are supposed to roll more average because they have razored edges.

I'd have no problem sharing dice with someone, as long as I had them all back at the end. If that's what it took to make them feel comfortable, then okay by me.

Of course, if they're that on edge, there's probably going to be some other issues.

I use different dice for different things. however its all stupid gamer superstition...

Like I will never re-roll the same dice that just failed a test.

There are two dice I always use for leadership tests, they arent any different its just silly gamer stuff.

The thing I cant stand is people who arent consistent with re-rolls. I re-roll anything thats not completely flat. I dont care how cocked or barely cocked it is. Some people though drive me insane re-rolling some cocked dice and not others because it benefits them.

Another time I rolled like 7 hits in a row without a misfire on my art/scatter dice... Guy was getting really fed up and accused me of using cooked dice. I happily let him use my art/scatter in his shooting face and had quite a chuckle when they misfired on both his war machine shots...

Accusing someone of using cooked dice is a very very serious accusation at tournaments. You better be ready to back it up. If someone accused me of using cooked dice (since I dont) and had judges at my table cause they had a string of bad luck or I had a streak of hot rolls they would get a sports hit from me..

I also hate it when people are inconsistent with their cocked dice re-rolls. I always re-roll a dice that is cocked even a little and it bothers me when people only do it when it's to their benefit.

IMO, if it's cocked in anyway, it should be re-rolled. I try to establish that before each game with my opponent.

Also, I hate when people start giving me the evil eye when I have a string of good luck with my dice. Or when my dice just roll average, because that's what they are supposed to do. Elves stats are better than average, so theoretically, my actions should be better than average and the dice should confirm that. With Game Science dice that's what's supposed to happen and I've seen that with them. So, I get frustrated when people get made at me because my better than average elves do better than average with my games science dice which are supposed to roll average thus enforcing the theory of better than average elves.

for dice, we have a house rule that if a 2nd dice balanced on top of the dice falls off its cocked.

if the dice balances, it isn't cocked.

if it falls off, its cocked.

At the 2k5 Seattle GWGT a certain Wood Elf player had his dice water-tested by several players after the first day with the GW Judge present. (He had gone to his hotel for the evening and left his dice on his display board.)

They failed the water test with a vengance. If you drop a fair d6 into a tall bottle of water, the d6 will spin all the way to the bottom of the water. A Cooked d6 will spin until the favored face is up, then it will "Wobble" as it falls but the favored face will always be face up.

The offender was given a new set of dice by GW. That's it. Wasn't asked to leave... nothing. He was even apologized to by the TO because the situation even came up. I'd have loved to have seen him tossed for it.

Well, you will notice i said "Can"

I would have thrown his results of the previous day out and given him a major loss in all his games and then replaced the dice.

if you catch a cheater before an event starts, maybe he can stay, but if he's caught during, or after, the event then he's out in my book.

I have a pair of 'lucky' dice I use to make rolls when I only need 1 or 2 dice. But I use them for when I need to roll high or low.
they are not loaded.

gamer superstitions are ok.

that said, a superstitious game who doesn't let his opponent handle his dice is suspect.

my dice are lucky. I have no qualms about my opponent using them, they only work for me

if someone is adament about you NOT using their dice then it does no harm to ask for a dice check.

i just found it amusing that it was in the rulebook (Pg 43). You don't necessarily accuse them of cheating, you would just like to toss their dice for your saves. In a normal game you can walk away, but in a tourney its not really an option. TBO cooked dice are not something you can easily prove hence why this rule was put in i believe.

1) To Be hOnest? LOL

2) Cooked dice are simple to prove. Water test, and if you cook some dice and roll them normally they roll SO wierdly. Take handfull and roll them a few times, Dice will literally turn 90 degrees and bounce the wrong direction they'll spin backwards, the bounces won't be uniform. Uncooked dice will tend to want to go in the same direction etc etc.

3) I've never actually cooked dice, but I ended up with a set because I had to clean up after a friendly game with my buddy after he left due to an family emergency, just by holding them, I could tell something was wrong. Take some old dice that you hate, cook 'em and see how they act. Then throw them away; because cheaters are whores.

I would not recommend cooking dice just because of safety reasons...

If their are any air pockets in the dice they can expand causing the dice to explode.

I'll never understand the issue that some players have with sharing dice. I do it for simplicity and quickness of play. If I throw my hit dice, remove the misses, then throw my wound dice and remove the failures, rather than have to count out more dice, just pick up whatever is left for saves!

There's no mojo stealing, I'm not cursing your dice, etc. etc. It's all rather silly.

6th edition lands on June 23rd!

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.
