Hey Dakkaites and Dakkaettes!

My name is Gavrock and I've been away from the hobby for a while and am looking at throwing myself back in with a whole new gaming system. I've looked over Fantasy armies for some time trying to decide what I wanted to play, but being the indecisive nightmare I am, I really can't choose. So instead, to try and further my painting skills and maybe make a few quid on the re-sale of the army (if I don't pick them up, that is) I'm going to paint this small force of Goblins I've got from two Skull Pass box sets. Here are the pictures:

As you can see, half of it has already got a pretty terribad paint job from it's previous owner as I got one of the two boxes off of eBay. At first I bought it because it still has all the Dwarves on sprue (which will be a later project!) but with the release of the O&G book recently, I thought they might sell better. So the painted half of the army will be dunked into a lovely bucket of Dettol when I pick it up on the way home from work tomorrow and the unpainted ones will go into the mold line removal stage before the big prime which will hopefully be done before the weekend.

On a side note, how are you guys finding O&G in this edition since the new book?

A quick pic of the two models I have on my desk which has been keeping me busy until the choice to do this project:

Placeholder post mainly, check back later in the week!

Update!

So I've had the painted half of the army in soak since Monday night and I took one out yesterday to gauge how well the stripping had worked, and if I'm honest, I'm quite impressed. I took the model out, brushed off as much paint under a warm water tap as I could. I then removed mold lines and generally cleaned up as much as I could. Took all of the flock off the base and re-attached the model, based it with GW sand and primed. Let me know what you think:

I know it's not perfect, but who's going to be staring directly at the model from 4'' away? From the standard it was at the beginning of the week, I feel it has come a long way.

Production line paint removal tomorrow!

Update!

So the painted Goblins are finished. Took a little more work than I thought as the glue that had been used on the bases and the flock had broken down in the Dettol and gotten on all the models. Upon finding this I took the models out of the Dettol and dunked them straight into a product called "Sticky Stuff Remover" I found in Asda for like £5. It did the job and I was able to brush the paint off without it getting all goopy and sticky. The models are now waiting on my window shelf for me to get some time to prep them, as well as drop their quite distinctive Dettol smell ;p

The rest of the models I had previously are now on my desk. I've removed all the mould lines and are now waiting to have sand added to the base and primed. When they're done the stripped models are next, having a fully primed army before I move onto painting. I don't want to get to a stage where I'm avoiding model prep and I don't look forward to anything.

In other news, I found an absolute bargain on eBay this weekend. The auction I won had:
1x Orc Warboss on Boar
37x Orc Boys
16x Orc Arrer Boys
1x Wolf Chariot
1x Orc Chariot
All for £30! So, I'm either going to split my goblins and the new orcs in two and sell two different armies, orrrr actually collect this army full time, which I'm getting closer and closer too each day.

More soon!
