Just like the title says. I'm looking at bitz that are available and the only lightning claws you can find for power armor are single left arm (commander/Vet #1 w/LC's) and a 2 right arms also from the veterans. Basically $14 for them. Now I don't actually mind purchasing them. My problem is that they are metal w/set shoulder pads which makes me sad since I like my pads I've got for my entire army.

Basically I'm asking what people think of running the dual falcions that come w/PAGK's as lightning claws. Representing light, super fast blades that are designed for precision strikes. Also bear in mind my chapter symbol is a sword. So thoughts?

I would allow for that swap both ways as long as they were always in pairs.

As long as every lightning claw in the army was a falchion I would have no problem.

All the "LC"'s would be equipped the same. So the 2 Lightning claw armed models would both be armed w/Falcions. One is the "Captain" (Whichever Sergeant gets upgraded by the Sanguinor) and the other is a standard sergeant. But they are equipped equally so I can properly represent the upgraded model

If it's consistent and looks cool (which, based on your past performance I'm sure it will ) I'd allow it.

I would love to see some pics, though!

As long as it is consistent, it should be okay.

I'd allow it as long as you wouldn't change your mind of what they are during they game.

Besides, they'd look awesome!

I'll get some pics uploaded in my gallery of my Counts-as Sanguinor and the Captain as soon as I finish building them. Just started getting the parts together for it last night and getting them cleaned. Tonight is assembly time. Mostly cause I was bored with my other modeling stuff

In a non-GK army, I don't see a big problem with it. I mean, nobody is going to think they're twin power weapons...

Or, at least nobody with any real understanding of the rules and army construction.

I'm shocked at the # of no's so far and shame on you all for not saying why.

I have no issue with it. Friend did similar with his BT army years ago, pair of swords for LCs on his assault terminators. Looked cool and obvious what they represent.

Well, the position for no is pretty simple: falchions aren't lightning claws.

Yeah, I'm not actually offended at the no's. I figure if it's around 50% cool online it won't be a problem in actual events due to rule of cool and it's pretty simple. But I like to ask

Probably work

I have no problem with it, even on a tournament setting. I've seen far worse. My roommate was actually lamenting a lack of lightning claws as well. I might have to swap him some of my spare falchions. Lord knows I'm not going to use them.

Alternatively, what about cutting them down even more so that they look less like power weapons. Maybe cut them sharp and narrow looking and make them be "Lightning Rapiers" or something?

@Daedalus

I thought about it. But Rapiers don't fit the army style. I almost with they were more Scimitar-ish cause that would be cool. But I'll take what I get. The lack of plastic LC's makes me a sad panda

While I would be cool with the falcions, I wanted to point out that there is a pair of PA lightning claws in the space wolf pack box.

Rule of cool calls for pics!

I could see them being confused with dual powerweapons as a sword would be much closer associated with a power sword than a lighting claw.

I'd be fine with it as long as you converted it to look a little less 2x CCWish. Something like the old Robotech Saber Cyclone where the sword is coming out of the arm, similar to the occasional fluff for lightning claws.

I would have to see the model before saying yes. I am leaning towards no since you can get LC from the SW grey hunter sprues (if you need some I got tons of LC arms and all I ask is you pay shipping). But my no is also based in the vacuum of not seeing a test model to determine for myself.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

I'd also paint them an unusual color just to make sure. It may have just been a convention for my friends and I, but I've seen a few other people use Yellow = Lightning Claws. Any unnatural color would make the point though.

Depends.

For Grey Knights? No way.

For other SM? As long as dual-CCW or dual-PW aren't options, then I don't see a problem with it.

The other option for Power Armor Lightning Claws for the right arm is the Space Wolf kit. The right arm takes minimal work to remove the wolf symbol (left arm is unusable since the wolf head is built into much of the LC housing). Just wanted to point that out in case you were unaware of it. I've used it with non wolves and it took about 5 minutes of cutting/filing.
