The Norse Lands

Hi all, this is 40k fiction. Its part of the back story for my IG captain, this story takes place on my Regiments home world, which is currently beset by a simultaneous strike by Chaos and Tau forces(not teamed up of course). And here it is, Please forgive me if this is sorta sloppy though, first time writing on the forum .

It was a dark, dour, and rainy day in Hive Grenesh. The Chathen Seventh Regiment had been posted in the small hive to oversee its defense in case of attacks from the Traitor and or Xenos forces, but primarily to oversee the safety of the civilians since the Arbites was stretched to its max and PDF forces were the first to be thrown at the enemy in an attempt to grind them down.

The Seventh Company had been assigned to defend the north easter blocks of the city. And to Captain Ian Taney, Leader of the Company saw it as more of a chore then an actual Imperial task, but he said nothing to his superiors knowing it would just get them riled. The Captain himself, was a diminutive man, a shaven head with a rough bearded face and deep blue eyes. In his eyes, this city was the epitome of filth, the Hive was dirty all the time, disrespected by the people who lived there. But most disgusting of all to him, was the youth. Since the founding of Chathes, the people of the planet had always been stoic, honorable. There were youth marches, parades, rallies the children and young people always supported the Guard. But ever since the invasion, Chathen youth had become increasingly rebellious, everything from pro Tau marches, to defiling of Imperial cathedrals.

It disgusted him, which is why this task was particularly enjoyable for him. Complaints about large amounts of raucous noise had been coming in, something about a party being held by an anti imperial youth group. Taney was looking forward to this, to crack down on these ungrateful little bastards. After reading the description he didn't expect much from the kids, drugs definitely, a brawl maybe, arrests entirely possible. He set out late that night with his personal command squad, armored with carapace armor, and one of his veterans carrying an under slung heavy flamer, primarily to be used as a deterrent more then anything else.

Taney and his men walked down the cobble stone alley, they had been walking for about 20 minutes, trying to find the location of the party. And finally they had found the address, a simple silver colored six hung on the alley wall next to the door.

He walked up to the cracked door and banged hard upon it with his fist. No answer.

The Captain looked at the tall man bearing the flamer "Knock it down."

With a nod and then a guttural snarl, the veteran stepped back and then threw his left shoulder into the flimsy entry way. The rest of the squad, the Captain going first, piled in through the door. There was fog all around as lights flashed and loud, strange music played, as if from a tech priest. When Taney waved away the fog from his face, what he and his men saw terrified them, not only was there large amounts drugs around the large room, but orgies, people painting with the severed body parts of people and animals. Homeless men were being beat and pummeled as people laughed at their misery, yet the most terrifying sight of all, was in the center of the room, a child no older then 6 years of age, being chopped apart, the youth committing this act laughing maniacally and moaning.

Several members of his squad vomited, one of them all over his uniform. A rage filled the captain and he glanced at the rest of his squad, they all knew what this meant. Taney drew his hellpistol, opening fire on the "artists" first blowing off their own limbs and the paintings they created with the arms and legs of others. He ran forward chopping them down as they screamed in agony. The other members of the squad opened up with their lasguns and killed dozens with a few minutes. Many of them ran screaming into the the city, others had their legs riddled with las fire. After slaughtering the painters, he ran toward the man destroying the child, and cut him down in a fury of righteous blows hacking him to bits as he still laughed.

In under a few minutes, the slaughter was over, some of the young lay screaming grabbing their legs in pain. The captain kneeling over the corpse of the tourtured child, killed by his hellpistol in an act of mercy. He began to sob, and for a near middle aged man, shaven and scarred, this was a sight to behold. He cried and cried over this dead child. He stood and turned to his flamer veteran.

"Burn it all. Burn these sick fething degenerates, all of them, living or other wise. I want them all to suffer for what happened hear."

With this, screams of desperation blurted from the crippled youth. The captain and his squad left the building with the exception of the flamer veteran, who stood at the doorway, immolating the structure. The captain walking away with tears of rage streaming down his face, this was no longer a place of virtue and imperial honor. It was a debased city that would. And MUST burn.

Thanks for reading you guys, C&C would be appreciated, sorry if some words repeated too often, and if it was a bit intense in its violence. Again, first time and thank you for YOUR time .

Thanks, i thought it was sorta crappy at first, definitely because it was short, but also because i was sorta rushed!

Would people mind if i expanded on Captain Taney here instead of creating a whole new thread?

Also, on the violence, i know its 40k but i was concerned on whether or not it was too violent because i was hoping to expand on the whole Slanneshi youth cult in the city.

EDIT: I'll continue more tomorrow, Taney rages at his CO.
