Can someone please tell me everything they know about someone of the Arch Magos rank, how they fight if they do often what their retinue consists of what they do and all that and some such.

I ask you this because In doing an Arch Magos as an Inquisitor since Im fascinated by both regimes. Could you pray tell me if this might happen?

Like always it depends on the arch-magos.
Most likely they would have some combat and gun mechanites and servitor/Praetorian(elite skitaari) retinue.

Dark heresy books also have some fluff on them.

A man may not serve two masters, and thus it is with both the Inquisition and the Adeptus Mechanicus. Inquisitors may retire from active field work, or retire entirely due to age or injury, but they are not then free to simply go off and join the AdMech. Many former Inquisitors have the drive, and (undoubtably) the personal wealth, to become Rogue Traders, or go into politics or retire to lives of authorship.

Adherence to the Machine Cult precludes a person from becoming an Inquisitor, though they may certainly serve in an Inquisitor's retinue... in so far as their goals and the goals of the Inquisitor align. Inevitably, it seems, the needs of the Mechanicus will require a Magos to part ways with his Inquisitorial allies, and follow his own path.

Speaking specifically of the Arch-Magos, someone this highly-placed within the AdMech will have access to all manner of technologies not commonly seen in the Imperium. Melta-guns and Plasma weapons are just two examples of such things. A bodyguard of skitarii or advanced gun-servitors is a given, as well as a cloud of skull-servitors and/or cherubim. The Magos himself is likely to be almost entirely cybernetic, making him orders of magnitude stronger and more resilient than common mortals, with ballistic mechadendrites and mind-impulse interfaces with his personal weapons.

Inquisitors don't really retire... they can die but they can't retire, though they make take a more passive role in the rganisation.
An Arch Magos wouldn't be able to become an Inquisitor though you could play a force of Mechanicus allied with Inquisition. An Arch Magos and an Inquisitor (with warband)leading a force of elite mechanicus troops in search of some kind of artifact or another...

Yes, indeed. Retirement, in the way we think of retirement in M2, is not an Inquisitor's lot in life. The Koronus Expanse features a Rogue Trader who was, previously, an Inquisitor... so now he's a Rogue Trader with a Rosette, purging the heretic, the xeno, the mutant while making himself a tidy fortune.

And, yes, agreed, an Arch-Magos and an Inquisitor can certainly team up to pursue here-teks or xenos or people involved in the Cold Trade or whatever other crime and heresy draws their attention, but neither the Magos nor the Inquisitor can ever join the other's primary faction.

York/London(for weekends) oh for the glory of the british rail industry

Arch Mago being one of the highest ranking members of the Mechanicus would mean that their retinue would be the size of armys in fluff.

Game-wise servitors, skitarii and all sorts of bad-ass tech weapons.

Relictors: 1500pts

its safe to say that relictors are the greatest army a man , nay human can own.

In your bits box

what you might consider is simply running an army of admech using the rules for inquisitors and what follows. be creative and dont restrict the priesthood of mars to work for the inquisition... why would they? if the magos wants something done he has all the power he needs at his fingertips... remember: the admech is an imperium within the imperium. They have authority, but unlike the inquisition it was its limits.

Or have a counts-as Magos as an Inquisitor.

The arms of the Imperium will aid one-another, for a time...

Hmm, there are plenty of fandexs on ad-mech but if you were going to have a "count as witchhunter/deamonhunter army" ret is basically not limited. servitors are pretty self-explanatory, the sister-hospitaller could be some kind of repair servitor, alcoytes are bodygaurds"pretorians" and warrior henchmen are some kind of skiterii. whitch hunters also have penitent engines, "count as robots" and arcoflaggents, count as electro-preists and use sisters of battle as skitterii. something to that sort. Just make a good representation and justify

I would prefer too use the GK Codex.
Thanks for the fluff.
Im thinking of an Archmagos Veneratus logis. So someone very high up but has a small retinue that's highly equipped. So Plasma Cannons Melta and SS acting as a forcefield.
What do you think could this work fluff wise?
