Boom! Leman Russ Commander

Hey I have a quick question for you all. Can I use some of Forgeworld's models to represent some of my codex units at a tournament such as ard boys?
I want to use these
in place of these:

The base size is probably different (20x20 on dwarfs, 25x25 on warriors) but past that I don't know about and 'Ardboyz specific rules on counts as.

Wehrkind is right about the base size. You also run the risk of being accused of taking smaller models to gain cover advantages.
I personally wouldn't have a problem with it. I think they look sweet.

I suppose if you were going to be using different bases anyway you could just build up large scenic bases to make them as tall as chaos warriors. Either have them standing over a cliff side or ruined fortress, or go for funny and have them on crates and phone books

Another option would be to put them on their 20 mm bases then use sticky putty or something to put those onto 25 mm bases, then you could use the same normal bases, use them as chaos warriors and still use them as 20mm bases with people who let you use the forgeworld rules.

I would just put them on 25mm bases.
things that hide dwarves will usually still give cover to Chaos Warriors so it isn't a huge deal.
you could do like people said and have them on scenic bases, made easier by having a larger 25mm base. the bodies of dead enemies perhaps?
Rule of Cool presides. even the most hardcore RAWist should allow an army of awsome Chaos(dwarf) warriors.

they actually have always allowed Forge World models.
not Forge World rules of course, but the models are fine.
they will allow you to use your shiny Forge World giant, dragon, or Dreadnought. Forge World wouldn't make any money otherwise.
and +9000 to Nos's post

The only 2 legitimate complaints would be.
#1: They absolutely must be on 25mm bases instead of 20mm bases. No problem, it's a very easy fix by placing them on 25mm bases.
#2: Somebody might cry modeling for advantage to lower their profile for LOS issues. Also not a problem. Either have a standard chaos warrior you can swap out for a member in the front rank when drawing LOS, or base the models like they are standing on a hill to raise their height to the level of a normal chaos warrior+ gain a psychological advantage by always making it look like your opponent is attacking uphill.
|
Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.
