True, and when he first appears, he is smoking off of his chest.
The smoking off of Blackbeard's chest is coming from slow burning matches he put in his beard. It's something the real Blackbeard would do before going into combat to make himself look scarier to the enemy.

Ive read this too, Im looking forward to seeing this movie although i was dissapointed to find that they basically have a mermaid and a missionary to fill the role of Bloom and Knightley. Personally I thought they were the two worst parts of the movies, I like the pirate adventurers over the whole stupid love drama.
