i would take something out and add a lord commissar with carapace armour (85 or 90 points), so that your orders fromt he PCS and CCS have a better chance of going off.

ML guard is pretty much the worst possible choice. Mix Autocannons and Lascannons for better ROI.

That said, a Lord Commissar is essential in this list, and I would look at Chenkov and a Banner as well. I think you may be confused about how much bad news will be in your face right away; sure, you will shoot some armies out of their transports before they get close, but unless you go first almost every army will be in your lines, as you'll have to set up fairly deeply to stay in order and leadership range.

Overall I think that this list will be generate losses more often than not against any BA, IG, DE or Horde (any type) list, so unless you already have the models or have an unlimited budget, I wouldn't spend to get this list.

How does this list do against the following opponents?

1. Ork Green Tide

2. IG Power Blob

3. SoB with two Exorcists

4. Dark Eldar Raider Force

5. Demons

The Green Tide may have 180 Ork Slugga Boyz rampaging toward you with maybe some lootas and/or a Mek Boy with a forcefield adding a bit of cover to the mobs. There will a Warboss in there for the Waagh! The better players space their boyz out far enough that a missile launcher hits one model with a direct hit but might get up to two with a good scatter. You should get two rounds of shooting. Can you stop them in two rounds?

Ditto for the IG Power Blob list but it has less cover (no Mek forcefield) and lower toughness. However, it has better run rolls in the shooting phase and is usually backed by pie plate ordnance that will run your HWTs off the table or kill them.

The SoB are seemingly vulnerable to your MLs krak missles but you don't have enough of them or a high enough ballistic skill to wipe the SoBs off the table before they hit your lines. The Exorcists are likely to cause major damage to your HWTs and infantry squads. I guess it will depend on how well your Manticores do counter fire.

Dark Eldar Raider forces are going to hurt you if they Alpha Strike. 12" move, 2" dismount, 1-6" fleet run, and then a 6" assault. You're probably OK if you hang out on the back edges of the table from them. Perhaps it will come down to how well you shoot and whether or not he has Nightshields.

Demons will try to land in your face. Your shooting phase may kill them all or fail miserably. If the latter, you might still crush them if you cascade the PIS to protect your HWTs and he lacks jump infantry. Done well, it is likely that you will still have most of your HWTs on the table at the end of the game and he will have zip on the board.

Now I'm wondering how you would do against an all infantry SM army but those things only exist in the imaginary world.

Hmm...Nid Horde....

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

I build IG...lots and lots of IG.
