The point of this list is that everything either flies or drops in. My Anti-Vehicle isn't perfect, but a flyrant and two harpies should do something. Warriors in a spore can shoot the turn they land and should shoot chunks out of whatever I aim them at. Swarms will be the death of me, but I'm kind of at peace with that.
Also, I have to say it- please don't tell me harpies suck. I'm keeping my harpies!
The plan is to drop in my two of my warriors and outflank with the other, thanks to hive commander. Warriors are all but impossible to footslog without a screen but I feel like shoving them in the enemy's face within range to actually do something should make them a scary prospect.
So without further ado, here's my unusual 1750 list.
HQ
Hive Tyrant: 265
-Wings, Adrenal Glands, Paroxysm, Leech Essence, Hive Commander
Elites:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Troops:
7x Warriors: 275 Points
-Scything Talons, Devourers, 1x Barbed Strangler, Mycetic Spore with Barbed Strangler
7x Warriors: 310 Points
-Scything Talons, Deathspitters, 1x Venom Cannon, Mycetic Spore with Barbed Strangler
7x Warriors: 285 Points
-Devourers, Rending Claws, Toxin Sacs, 1x Barbed Strangler
Fast Attack:
Harpy: 180 Points
-Venom Cannon, Adrenal Glands
Harpy: 180 Points
-Venom Cannon, Adrenal Glands
5x Shrikes: 250 Points
-Scything Talons, Boneswords, Adrenal Glands
Heavy Support:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1745 Points
I want this list to be friendly, but not terribad.

If you're dead set on the drop in list, my suggestion would be drop a few warriors and get some zoanthropes in a pod. The warp lances are fantastic at breaking armour! And the warp blast isn't to shabby either.

I agree with bazzokatooth on the zoans in spores, that would help out against tanks as well as giving you a blast templates to help with the swarms. instead of adrenal glands on the lord you may prefer trying for a old adversary on him since rerolls in combat are always nice for melee units. Other thoughts include dropping the shrikes or 1 harpy for a boatload of gargoyles for all screen purposes you will ever need as well as a decent tar pit unit

You need some more AV. Drop warrior broods down to say 5/6 and get zoeys in a spore pod. Doom in a spore can also be nice if you can crack those transports.
Extra weapons on the spore is a bit of a waste with BS2.
I would like to see rending claws on those shrikes so they can be a threat to armour. Boneswords do nothing vs vehicles.

I was kind of pro-rending claws for a while for this very reason. People have been telling me the rending shrike is crap though.
Also, I think I could easily either slim down my troops or drop ONE harpy for the zoeys.

honestly, i don't really even like warriors that much. they are only toughness 4 and losing a 3 wound model from one rocket shot/power fist attack always chaps my ass. for the amount of points you are spending on them, you could get a TON of gargoyles or hormagaunts (my favorite unit in the nid codex) You actually gain more speed getting across the board, and will completly out number your foe. :-) Put toxin sacs on the hormies and you will fear no unit that has wounds. If you are lucky enough to get a whole squad of 30 into combat, thats 90 attacks on the charge, re-rolling 1s to hit and wounding on 4s.

Bazooka, I respect your opinion but this is a warrior list. If it won't be a top tier tourney list I could care less, I'm using the models I like. That said, I want to use them in a way that doesn't utterly guarantee defeat. If you want to help in that regard go ahead, but I'm not fielding a swarm.

I assumed the shrikes were stayers, so just giving options for some AV. If you keep them with boneswords then they are infantry only and you need to be able to drop transports etc somewhere else in the list. HVC on the harpy is an option; while they may not destroy vehicles they can keep them stun locked. You could always take this instead of the AG as harpy's are I5 with the sonic scream and with only 2 attacks are not really designed for CC.

You don't have any elites, and you don't have any heavies, the two things that generally make or break a Tyranid army.
If you really want to do a warrior-heavy list, then you should try and up their survivability.
If you field large groups of warriors, if you're facing a good opponent, then they're going to get lit up like a christmas tree by anything Str8, and then it's 30+ points per failed/denied save from your army.
Warriors suffer from not having access to strong enough weapons, a 3+ save, or an invul save. They are decent in hand to hand against non-dedicated CC units, but anything with a powerfist will crush 'em.
But, that being said, there are a few things you can do without having to hoard up.
First, cut down on the amount of warriors you have per brood. 4/5 should be about the maximum investment you'd want in a squad.
Second, add Tyranid Primes to your Warrior groups to both buff their WS/BS, and to soak up Str 8 shots.
Third, add some Venomthropes and keep them near your warriors. This may be tricky if you intend to deep strike everything, but you should be able to figure something out. Venomthropes give you a 5+ cover to your Warriors in the open, giving them at least a chance to survive some high powered shots. Also, their power goes to any unit within 6", so if you keep one warrior lagging behind and you get charged, the charging party is looking at a Dangerous Terrain test, an Initiative reduction w/o Assault Grenades, and they lose the bonus charging attack because you count as having defensive grenades.
Keep your venomthropes out of the LOS of your opponent and they will be your best friends.
Harpies are okay. I like the unit, but I play mostly low point games where they aren't as reliable. At 1750+ I think they are a good enough choice. Definitely take the Stranglethorn cannon. S6 + Pinning is an infantry nightmare, and Harpies are great mobile firing platforms. Even though they are MCs, they still benefit from the 5+ cover save granted by the Venomthropes.
I'd really suggest shaving some points (maybe from the Shrikes) and investing those in some Hive Guard or a Trygon. Or both. Shrikes are cool, but they will rarely make their points back or survive long enough to get into CC. And they are expensive. For the same point investment, you can get 5 BS4/S5/T6/W2 light armor crackers that don't need LOS to fire their guns.

my bad, i thought you just wanted a speedy army. that said, maybe drop a few warriors or shrikes and add some gargoyles or like kumorikage said, some venomthropes to give your warriors cover. i understand its a friendly list but you still want to win right? the gargoyles might make you semi-swarm but they will provide cover and get the enemy stuck in assault and give your warriors time to get across the board without getting the crap blown outta them.
