Just want to get some thoughts...

I had a blackshirt tell me that bloodstrikes are single-shot fire-all-at-once. Everything I find on the net says otherwise.

I believe his rationale was the listing. While it does not say Heavy 4, One shot, the unit wargear (and stat) listing on page 38 and the summary in list the back lists them as plural - Bloodstrike Missiles (emph) Heavy 1, One shot.

The wording on pg. 38 says each missile can only be fired once. Tie that into the plural woring on each entry and it appears you have to fire all four at the same time.

I get the feeling this is reading RAW not RAI.

Anyone else heard this interpretation?

You can fire one missile at a time, RAW

Wargear page 38 of the codex states:

"Four Bloodstrike Missiles"

"Each one can be fired only once"

Once again blackshirts lack of knowledge of the game shows through!

I can see how he came to that idea but would personally go with the rai of firing each one time, rather than all at once.

On page 94 it says that the stormraven has "Four bloodstrike missiles". So each one is a seperate weapon, similar to how a land raider has "Two twin-linked lascannons".

There is nothing saying that you have to fire them all at once. In fact, you can only do so if you move at combat speed or less, as they are over str4. Each is a separate weapon, taking a separate weapon destroyed result.

You have four missiles. Four weapon systems.

If it's one weapon then you only have one shot as it's heavy 1.

If it's four weapons then they fire separately.

There is no RAW interpretation where they get four shots but only count as a single weapon.

Incidentally, there is also no rule allowing vehicles to choose not to fire specific weapons. Non-vehicle units are specifically allowed to fire with only certain models, but there is nothing in the rules that allows a vehicle to do the same with individual weapon systems.

Was it at the Columbia GW? (the one by 29 and 100)

There are several things that were simply played wrong at that store because the manager did not know the rules. (Artillery, Multiple Assault, Army specific stuff)

As for your question:

You have 4 missiles that are single shot weapons. 4 different weapons.

Compare to the IG manticore. It has a single weapon with a special rule that says it can only fire 4 times. Very Different.
