mostly for fun but also keeping it competative cheiftains will go w/clanrats, warlord w/stormvermin, slaves will screen the main army hpa either up the middle or one on each flank, ratswarms will warmachine hunt (might swap for giant rats of same point value), giant rats and rat ogres will go in center or deploy on a flank

never used a vermin lord before but am looking forward to it as he looks very powerful but think he will be a huge target, if anyone has used before i would like to hear how he works and tactics used with him

I haven't seen the VL being used either. As for your general...Queek is cheaper and better than what you have up there. If you drop the second chieftan you will also have the points to upgrade the SV. And my gosh, man...that's a big block of WS5 Str4 rats. Give them the flaming attacks banner for kicks and giggles =D

Edit: I love rat swarms. They have done nothing but good things for me.

lol why not just make a horde unit of 40clan rats then get 10 chieftans, with shields and put them in the front rank thats always fun.

Your BSB has too many points worth of gear, unless the Enchanted Shield is supposed to be a Charmed Shield.

The VL is sort of hit or miss. If you give him plague, he has the speed to get into optimal range to use it. The issue is that despite his high toughness and wounds, he still only has a 5++ save; he will get dragged down if you're not careful.

I'm also sort of confused by the lack of weapons teams, warp lightning cannons or any of the killy ranged stuff that skaven are so good at. Heck, at 3k points I'd be fielding 4 WLCs for a measely 360 points!

imo the last comment ^ is more biased because the skaven are less known for their shooty since their new update. spamming HPA and Plague furnaces is the new fun cheap annoying crap you can pull.

Um...I don't know about previously, but Skaven are great at shooting. There's nothing better than shooting at a unit locked into my slaves for several rounds. As far as cheap, two WLCs are quite a bit less than HPA or PF. PF are pretty common in my meta, though. Can't really go wrong there. IMO, in a 1k game you won't find anything that can compete with it. At higher points you can take it, a WE with DR, a BSB, and a grey seer with SB too, if you want to spend a lot of points on Lords/Heroes.

If you mean cheap as in "annoying and not fun for your opponent", sure, multiple HPAs are the way to go. If you mean points wise, then my 4 WLCs are less than 1 HPA and 1 Plague Furnace.

Warp Lightning Cannons are arguably one of the best units in the game. 48" range, Avg. S6, d6 wounds, no armor saves, line + template giant sniper cannons. Sure, once in awhile they misfire, but I have yet to have a game where the WLCs aren't my MVP hands down.
And not shooty? Plague Mortars are a move and fire, armor ignoring, 5+/4+ to wound regardless of toughness weapon team at a paltry 65 points.
Doom rocket Engineer. 45 points of large template in your face. 1 shot, sure, but 45 points!

And those are the commonly taken options that aren't poisoned gutter runner slings!

Seriously, the HPA and the Furnace are nice, don't get me wrong. But I've had neither do for me what the WLC does on a regular basis: kill the crap out of entire units turn after turn after turn.
