I just picked up a good sized Ork army over the course of the month, and have played a few games with an even mix of wins losses so far.
I'll just post what I have and see what sort of general feedback is thrown my way...

HQ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

***1 Warboss (w/cybork, ammo runt, shoota combi-rokkit, PK)
***1 Warboss (w/'eavy armor, TL shoota, big choppa)
*note: I ALWAYS get attack squig option, just did not list it as I have not modeled them yet.

***1 Big Mek w/KFF in the works

TROOPS--------------------------------------------------------------------
(150 boyz, 19 Gretchin as detailed below)

***27 'ard slugga boyz
***2 'ard big shoota boyz
***1 'ard nob w/big shoota, PK, bosspole

***27 shoota boyz
***2 big shoota boyz
***1 nob w/big shoota, PK, bosspole
(screening force for slugga boyz)

***27 shoota boyz
***2 big shoota boyz
***1 nob w/big shoota, PK, bosspole
(screening force for slugga boyz)

***29 slugga boyz
***1 nob w/big shoota, PK, bosspole

***29 slugga boyz
***1 nob w/big shoota, PK, bosspole

***19 Gretchin
***1 Runtherd
(considering using making these guys Big Gunz crew, would especially like suggestions here if I should do so, or keep them as a screening force)

ELITE-----------------------------------
(lootaz, tankbustaz, kommandoz, and 3 nob squad as detailed below)

***8 Lootas
(trying to build more as these seem essential for just about any Ork army, but how much is too much? 3 blocks of 15? 3 blocks of 5? I have surprisingly have had HORRIBLE results with them so far, but not dismissing them by no means)

***12 Kommandos (standard load out)
***2 Kommandos w/burnaz
***1 Kommando Nob w/PK

***13 Tankbustaz (w/ maximum #bomb squigs)
***1 Tankbusta w/tankhammer
***1 Tankbusta Nob w/heavy armor and a bosspole

***1 Nob w/ 'eavy armor, big choppa, WAAAGH! banner
***1 Nob w/ 'eavy armor, big choppa, TL shoota
***5 Nobs w/'eavy armor, big choppaz
***3 Nobs w/'eavy armor, PK's

***1 Nob w/ 'eavy armor, big choppa, WAAAGH! banner
***1 Nob w/ 'eavy armor, big choppa, TL shoota
***5 Nobs w/'eavy armor, big choppaz
***3 Nobs w/'eavy armor, PK's

(this next Nob squad is a future project)
***1 Painboy
***2 Nobs w/cybork, shoota combi-rokkit, big choppa
***2 Nobs w/cybork, shoota combi-burna, big choppa
***2 Nobs w/cybork, TL shoota, big choppa
***2 Nobs w/cybork, big choppa
***1 Nob w/cybork, PK

FAST ATTACK----------------------------

***9 Koptaz, though I find running just 3 seperate koptaz in 1 man (or ork?) squads has worked for me for leadership reasons and enough to draw enemy fire.
w/TL rokkit launcha
I am partial to the Buzzsaw... as it seem expensive for a throw away unit

***3 Warbuggies (have a pile of bits to make them, not sure when, if, or how)

HEAVY SUPPORT-----------------------

Battlewagon: I have decided to throw the parts from 2 bikes, 2 trukks, 2 rhinos, and 1 land raider in one large collective pile and shake the box up...
...why? If I am going to build a giant technological mess (or masterpiece) of a battlewagon... I have to do it the way an Ork would.

Any tips, opinions, whatever on anything you took the time to read would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I personally love battle wagon rush, there is no list that can compare ( fun wise, again for me).

other then that you seem to have the makings of a solid green tide at any point lvl except that you need more lootas. green tide I would run another squad of 8. If you get/make more bws I generally only run squads of five in that type of list.

get that bigmek!!!! he is the life saver of any ork army.

buzzsaw koptas are the only koptas!!! the alpha strike abilities alone are enough to take them and if the other player shoots them down its less shooting going at your main list,

never use tankbustas they are nothing in comparison to lootas.

Diplomacy is the act of saying good doggie until you can find a big enough gun!!!

looks nice:

with what you have, you might be able to make two battle wagon, the LR with some litle kustom work can make one,

mixing the trukk and rhinos and making a big BW.

that would make two for the price of one, lol, well kidna

NICE WHFB & W40k Terrain, low price, high quality:http://www.dreamspiritwargaming.com

Not a huge fan of the Boyz. Firstly, I'm pretty sure that nobs can't take big shootas. I'm also thinking that the ard boyz are a waste of points as so many things can easily kill them, so whats the point in paying the extra points. With regard to the elites, your using two of the most lackluster units IMO (tankbustas and kommandos) and not taking the best ones (lootas and burnas). In fact I never leave home without my lootas The amount of shots they can put out is staggering, and makes your opponent worry about his transports and infantry. Buzzsaws on the koptas are great. Sure, the saw is expensive on a suicide unit, but most of the time I can manage to make back most of their points (if not more) alpha striking at enemies rear armor on my first turn. Buzzsaws = good. With the heavy support, I'm not sure if the battlewagons would be the best choice. The majority of your army is footslogging, so having a portion hit the enemy first makes the waves that much weaker. I'd consider building 9 kans and getting a couple big meks to make a kan wall

Just my 2 cents

Personally, buzzsaws....meh. Yes you can outflank and get 3 buzzsaw attacks, but they're only (yes ONLY) strength 7 on the charge. What happens after the attack? you're sitting in the back of their territory waving a big 'kill me nao' sign.

twinlinked rokkit launcha koptas are less points, and they're essentially BS3 when you include reroll misses. 2 wounds each, you can maintain distance.

also don't waste points on 'ard armor for the boyz. Boyz want to die, don't deny them that

Exactly!! Out of 9 Deffkoptas only 1 has a buzzsaw modeled on him. Personally I have had the best of luck running 3 squads of them... 1 kopta (w/TL rokkit only) each. Sometimes making one squad of 5 koptas (all w/TL rokkit and 1 w/Buzz) but I prefer to save the points for LOTS of boyz!

Even 1 Kopta with a TL rokkit it enough of a problem that the enemy has to consider getting rid of it... yet its only 45 pts... One shotting a Space Wolf Rune Priest is the beginning of a great day

That is an impressive list!

Well, to get the 3rd big shoota for your mobs, you need 30 boyz... it doesn't say who can use it, so you can give a boy a big shoota and upgrade him to a nob, then give him the nob equipment. Doesn't really matter, as the Nob is still a BS2.

I have always been a fan on 3 squads of 1 Kopta. I don't use koptas, I use wartraks and Scorchers, but it is the same thinking... if you lose one, why have the others run away? As for the buzzsaw... eh... experiment!

I am not sold on Tankbusters due to the 'attack nearest vehicle' rule. Besides, that Nob should have a PK. You could buy a trukk and put them in there with boarding planks...

As for the gunz... I run a lobba due to having an old squig catapult and it has been not worth it at all. It looks like the real winners are the Zapp guns and the kannons. You don't need a Runt herder, so you can have 9 gretchen manning the gunz and 10 with the hearder doing the screening thing or camping a home objective. They are better off camping instead of wasting valuable boyz for that. Use them for the screening force when a non-objective mission comes up. Should be pretty easy to model up too... if anything, go out and buy some WWII anti-tank guns that are close to scale (bigger is better than smaller).

To be frank, orks are the only army in the game where using other models is almost encouraged. I wouldn't waste the LR and the Rhinos... just buy a WWI tank model or a truck model.

Good luck and enjoy!
