Quick quest, if a unit that moves like jetbikes turboboosts and an IC that moves like a jetbike moves 12" to join that unit, does the IC gain the 3+ cover save? I would guess yes based on rules for units partially in cover (not sure if there's an actual blurb that covers this scenario, I've never heard of one).

I would say yes as the character would suffer the penalties, no charge no shooting.

Turbo-boosters are lost by any unit that is joined by an IC without that USR, thus taking the 3+ save with it.

However, if the IC also has the turbo-boost rule(for example, is riding a bike), he would benefit from 3+ cover as the majority of the unit is in cover.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

I remember this coming up before, somewhere, and I could have sworn someone stated that the unit that boosted still gets the cover save for that round but the joined IC does not.

Cover saves are granted on a per-unit basis, or not. You cannot have some models taking a cover save while others dont, its all or nothing.

That's not explicitly stated, from what I remember. I think it'd be a stronger argument to refer directly to the wording for the "Turbo Boost" special rule (I don't have my rulebook at hand) - if it says "the unit gains... after turbo boosting" then the IC joining the unit would get the cover save. If it says "models gain... after turbo boosting" then the IC wouldn't get the save. I'm pretty sure that the language used is "the unit gains...", however.

Read pages 20 onwards. Cover saves are taken on a per unit basis.

Classic:

Reavers deployed in mid-deployment area and the Baron right in front of them adjacent to the Deployment line.

Reavers Turboboost onwards, moving 18~24 inches so they get a cover save 3+, are centered on the battlefield to threaten most of the table.

The Baron moves in coherency and now the unit has a 2+ cover save and a huge chance at blowing stuff up with their Meltas in the following turn.
