Hey Dakka! Lord Commissar Bokhari here!
My first post outside the introductions so I guess I'm asking for some advice on how to trim this list a bit. I'm trying to make a balanced profile for a 1750 point game. However you'll notice straight away that my army isn't quite mechanized. That's due in part because I want to try and break the whole ''vehicle hammer'' habit that prevails in Guard armies and also I just don't have that many tanks anyway. xD
So! I'll just jump right in. =)

Headquarters: 380 Points
Lord Castellan Creed
Colour Sgt.Kell
2x Vets: Flamers
1 Vet: Medi-Kit
Astropath
Officer of the Fleet
Dedicated Transport: Chimera w/ 2 Heavy flamers.

Troops Total: 755 Points

Troop Choice One: Infantry Platoon:

Platoon Command Squad: 600 Points
Platoon Commander: Power Fist
3x Vets: Flamers
1 Vet: Medi-Kit

2x Infantry Squads with 1 Las-Cannon each and a Sgt. With power weapon
1x Infantry Squad w/Commissar and Sgt Both with Power weapons
2x Heavy Weapons Teams all w/ Triple Missile Launchers
1x Spec. Weapons Squad: 2x Flamers + 1 Demo Charge.

Troop Choice Two: Veterans w/Demo Doctrine:
Gunner Srgt. Harker.
6x Shotguns
3x Melta Guns
1x Demo Charge

[u]Elites: 370 Points

2x 5 Man Strom Trooper Squads with a total of 4 melta-guns
1x 10 Man Psyker Battle Squad
3x Ratlings

Heavy Support: 240 Points

Lemun Russ Vanquisher w/Pask+Lascannon+Camo Netting.

So the total there comes to 1745, or 1750 if i throw in a random vox caster.
I'm trying to make a list that can potentially take all comers at this point range so any tips or hints are more than appreciated, I've based this list around the recent success I've had facing a D.O.A Blood Angels Army, though the Russ I used for that was a Executioner.
Oh also I had Marbo as an Elite choice instead of a PBS last time and he more than made up his point cost. I'm just tinkering away in case I face my friend's Mech Assault Blood Angels army or my other mate's Eldar Force.
Thanks a million guys. =)

i'm not sure about pask and the vanquisher. I know it can take out a tank and all that jazz, however, i have never seen that as an over effective piece of the puzzle. I played a guy with a list simmilar to this. you have to take effect of creeds 4 orders and order range.

Hmmm lots of wasted wargear here.

You have two tanks in the army and that's where all the anti tank is going so I would drop both of those or for heavy support get orndnace and hide it behind terrain etc or use infantry to bubble wrap it and get a cover save.

Right then CCS, you don't really need the Astropath as nothing is really coming from reserve besides the Storm Troopers. I'd also drop Kell as well but Creed is fine. If you drop the tank switch the flamers to a lascannon and camp it up.

Right PCS flamers aren't the best for on foot but ok for counter assault personally I'd rather put grenade launchers on them for cheapness. Don't need a power fist as they will be dead before the fist hits back.

The Platoon really should have autocannons as Guard need weight of fire power and also a Commissar. Keep the power weaps.

HWTs are ok but add a Lord Commissar for the stubborn bubble so they do not run away.

Veterans won't get into melta range so I would drop those.

Only two Storm Troopers can have a special weapon not four TBH I'd get rid of these altogether.

I would get rid of the Vanquisher as with Pask it is just too expensive.

Would it be smart to get rid of Kell though? Creed is all about his orders and if you want to get all 4 off then Kell is handy in reducing the chance of failing that. Just saying since none of his guys have vox-casters. That's a genuine question though, I'm no IG player.

Normal Sgts are LD8 is Kell worth the points just to do that? I don't think so.

It seems to me that you don't have much infantry for a creed list.

Ideally creed should be issuing orders to 100+ guardsmen turn.

Get 40-50 man blob squads and his furious charge order becomes a threat.

His orders are valuable. Make sure they go off with a vox network. Or if you want to be AWESOME take kell and a network (but obviously ditch this if points are tight)

Use your platoon commanders for orders they can do and save creed for the premium ones.

Instead of taking heavy weapon squads (Vunerable and expensive) try to take infantry squads.

4 lascannons twin linked from a blob is good stuff. But heavy weapon squads do have their place.

Anyways i would suggest building an army around creed if you take him.
That means lots of infantry in no more than 4 main groups, a counter assualt unit,a single powerful forward ranging unit.

Artillery is also good for sitting behind the guys, you dont have to move your giant blob if you can blow the enemy off their objectives (COLOSSUS) and they have to move towards you if you have well hidden infantry.

AND its REAllY fun if you are playing DOW and they make you go first and reserve (or you getting a 5-6 on a run move is something you are eilling to risk) to scout then move then run an infantry blob to block and edge.
OR take alharem and scout an infantry blob to outflank from the edges before they do and block them that way (helpful if you have a reserve +1 guy)

Main comment here. You have four elite units for three elite slots. You need to drop at least one. I'd suggest dropping both the ratlings and the PBS. Other than that you list is quite bloated with extras. May want to rethink that and add more and better units. Check out some other posts for ideas.

Really appreciate the feed back guys I'm learning all the time and more than willing to put diff ideas into practice and see what kind of results I get though the notion of an entirely foot slogging army built around Creed with arty support does sound very tempting as it does suit the I.G mythos to a T.
